The Federal Government will spend N2.3tn to reposition the nation’s economy as part of the Nigeria Economic Sustainability Plan to cushion the effects of COVID-19, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, said

According to a statement on Sunday, Adesina said this in a presentation at the 2nd Annual Conference and General Meeting of the International Islamic University Malaysia Alumni Association, Nigeria chapter.

He said the NESP comprised N500bn COVID-19 Crisis Intervention Fund meant to upgrade health facilities nationwide and finance a national Special Public Works Programme; N1.1tn structured lending from the Central Bank of Nigeria; N334bn to be derived from external bilateral and multilateral sources; and N302.9bn from other undisclosed sources.

Quoted, “The 12-month ‘transit’ scheme under the NESP was developed as a successor plan to the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan. When compared to other world economies, the Nigerian economy was not as badly hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, contrary to doomsday projections that had earlier come from the West,”

Femi Adesina urged states and local governments to complement the efforts of the Federal Government to cushion the effects of COVID-19 on the people.

The keynote speaker at the event and Pro-Vice-Chancellor, University of Derby, United Kingdom, Prof. Kamil Omoteso, who spoke on ‘Repositioning the Nigerian economy in the COVID-19 era and beyond: The role of Diasporans’, said the country needed to properly harness the potential of its Diaspora population.

So who displaced the economy?

Make una go sit down jor.

You people keep getting more irritating by the second.

Initially, I thought you need some times to fix the economy only to discover you keep sinking it further. Borrowing up and down as if the country has stopped generating anything.

Within the period of this administration, I have lost counts of various taxes and charges imposed on Nigerians, where are those taxes going?

sad reality. Politicians use poverty to manipulate our people to vote for them.religion, tribalism & poverty, 3 tools politicians use to divide & rule. if they don't get you with one, they get you with the others.

the mindset & values of an average Nigerian is pitiable too. no empathy. Here, you can get away with just about anything. no accountability.

As long as you run a government/economy that is solely geared towards creating jobs through the ballooning of the work force/civil service and the utilization of'contracts' as a means of empowering party stalwarts and ethnic henchmen, there will always be reasons to map out trillions like this for vague projects/initiatives.. it's what happens when you institutionalize corruption as a means of empowering a selected group.

They are fleecing Nigerians while inflicting more severe taxes, tariffs, VAT, electricity/fuel increasing yet they say the government have fulfilled its promises.

So where are you sourcing these fund to fix the economy? Hope it's not another borrowing galore? Was there anytime the economy was fine? Using COVID19 as another smokescreen for their cluelessness.A zombie is already whining-next level is still three years away.

comos:
The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, on Friday justified the arrest of only suspects of Yoruba extraction over the recent clash in Ile-Ife, Osun State, which resulted in the death of about 46 persons. He said crime neither has tribe nor identity.

Idris spoke with State House correspondents shortly after briefing President Muhammadu Buhari of security situations in parts of the country inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The police had been in the eye of the storm for arresting and parading 20 Yoruba persons, including a monarch, over the clash while not a single Hausa/Fulani person was detained.

The pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere; and the Oodua Peoples Congress are among groups and individuals that have been criticising the police over the development.

Idris however said the police would not hesitate to apply the law once criminal cases are established against individuals, irrespective of their tribe.

He said, “You know we are police officers. Crime has no tribe. If you are a criminal, you are a criminal.

“Crime has no face. We don’t look at crime in the identity of where you are coming from.

“As far as you are a criminal and the police find you wanting, we apply the law.”

He said investigation had revealed that the crisis started with a disagreement between two people selling food along the road.

You only repositioned what has been destabilized.

Life was much more easier before the coming of the current government, fuel, electricity, consumables etc weren't as high as it is now.

So who destabilized the country from what it was to what it is currently ?

Mad man .
