Tecno has announced a brand new series of smartphones called Tecno Camon 16 series. They include three new devices – Tecno Camon 16, 16 Pro, and 16 Premier.

In the beginning of Q2 this year, tecno officially launched the Camon 15 Premier and the Camon 15 in Nigeria.

The Camon 16 Premier

Tecno camon 16 premier smartphone comes with improvements in camera and performance as compared with the tecno camon 15 premier. It is also the first tecno smartphone to feature a 90Hz refresh rate screen.

Camera

From the past to recent launch of camon series, it is well known that Tecno camon series has always been committed to the study of camera technology. Each camon series sold to consumers always come with an upgrade.

The first Tecno Camon device launched in Nigeria was Tecno Camon C8 – first tecno Camera centric phone and it had one front camera with 5 MP. Tecno is about to launch a device with 64MP back and 48MP front camera to give users a better photography experience.

The device is equipped with a quad-camera at the rear, a 64MP Ultra Clear Lens, a Sony IMX686 6P camera sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide angle camera, a 2MP macro Shooter and a 2MP Bokeh lens. The camon 16 premier camera comes with five LED flash and features such as HDR and Panorama. The front camera takes amazing and clear selfies. It has a dual 48MP camera + 8MP ultra-wide angle camera with dual flash.

The front and back camera supports recording videos in 4K and 1080p at 30fps. Also on the device comes the pioneer anti-shaking video mode which allows you record all the breathtaking moments on the move.

Design and Display

It measures 170.61 x 77.18 x 9.1mm in dimensions and has a polycarbonate body with a gradient glossy finish. The device comes with a pioneer big screen which has a 6.9-inch FHD dual Dot-in display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 20:5:9 aspect ratio, and HDR10+ support.

The front camera houses a dual punch hole camera setup and its fingerprint scanner is side-mounted with a squared shaped quad camera setup and five LED flash at the back.

Tecno camon 16 premier is available in just one colour – Glacier Silver.

Camon 16 premier Processor, operating system and storage

The smartphone is powered by the MediaTek’s Helio G90T chipset built on a 12nm processor with Cortex-A76 CPU and Mali G76 GPU. Its operating system runs on Android 10 based on the OEM’s custom HiOS 7.0 UI. The smartphone comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB built in storage capacity. It also supports up to 512 GB storage via microSD card.

Battery

The device is powered by a non-removable Li-polymer 4,500mAh battery with 33W super charge via its reversible USB-C port. ( charges the battery from 0 – 70% in 30 minutes).

Network and connectivity

Tecno camon 16 premier uses a dual nano SIM card and supports 2G, 3G and 4G network.

Its connectivity options are WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0 and a 3.5mm audio jack. Others include GSM, WCDMA, LTE (FDD, TDD), GPRS, HSPA+, FULL EDGE, GPS, WIFI, FM, BT, and OTG.

You may notice some similarities between the Camon 16 Premier and the Infinix zero 8. This shouldn’t be a big surprise because it was stated earlier that Infinix and Tecno are part of Transsion Holdings. The tecno camon 16 Premier isn’t the same with the infinix zero 8 both in features and design.

Tecno camon 16 premier price

TECNO is an innovative brand delivering nothing short of technology excellence on affordable budgets. Since Tecno is for Nigerians, they have put into consideration the country’s economic situation, the country’s electricity situation, etc. when coming up with the price.

The company is expected to announce the smartphone on September 8 in Nigeria. The price will be updated on the website immediately it has been officially announced.

I am yet to enjoy my Tecno Camon 12 and Camon 16 is out. Let me wait for Camon 18; i know it will come out by feb 2021
