- Benue government has disclosed the next line of action after the death of the state's notorious criminal, Gana

- Governor Samuel Ortom said his government would not be distracted from the ongoing amnesty programme despite the controversy trailing Gana's death

- Ortom further state that his government would meet with stakeholders to prevent the breakdown of laws and orders

Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue, has stated that his goverment will proceed with the amnesty programme for the repentant criminals in the state despite the recent setback occasioned by the death of Terwase Akwaza known as Gana.

Ortom made this disclosure on Thursday, September 10, while addressing journalists at the government house in Makurdi after the state security council meeting.

The governor said he would not be distracted by the killing, adding that there would be Benue state security council meeting with stakeholders from Sankera on Friday, September 11
He further explained that at the meeting, the discussion would be lengthened down to how the amnesty programme will continue without breaking down of laws and orders amid controversy trailing Gana's death

The notorious criminal met his waterloo and was subsequently annihilated three years after Governor Ortom-led government placed a N10 million bounty on information that could lead to his arrest.

Brigadier-General Maude Ali Gadzama, commander of the Four Special Forces Command of the Nigerian Army in Doma local government area of Nasarawa state, confirmed Gana's killing.

Speaking on Channels TV, Governor Ortom further explained that the wanted criminal was killed during a crossfire with the Nigerian Army.

Gana had surrendered himself to the state government on Tuesday, with the decision coming at the Katsina-Ala township stadium in the Benue North senatorial zone during an amnesty event.
He was said to have submitted some arms and ammunition to Benue amnesty programme established by Governor Ortom.

However, Ortom said soldiers snatched Gana from a government convoy escorting repentant militants in Gboko.

I don't understand our strong desire to trend on negetive things lately.Criminality is bad but to kill a man like a chicken provokes many feelings, with this; some criminals will refrain from renouncing their old ways. The real work starts now.
