It wasn't too long ago that I believed that Nigeria had actually closed down some Asian rice mills because of an increase in rice production. That was a time young people on NL "cartooned" Peter Obi as Mao Tse Chung. Peter Obi had, during the VP debate, stated that "borrowing was OK, as long as it was to re-stock his shop". I believed the counter argument, that "the poorest of the poor" were already being lifted out of poverty with Tradermoni and N-Power. Barely a year later, Chinese loans are creating a sovereignty debate and rice mills in Asia are thriving. I will not dwell too long on the fuel price, VAT, electricity tariff hike or still-negotiated-by-State minimum wage. I now only believe that this administration can redeem itself by involving truth-speaking technocrats and implementing their advice. |
