In my own humble opinion as a Nigerian and true indigene of Edo, I believe, pastor Osagie ize iyamu remains the best option for Edo people.
One of the problems we have continually faced in this country is the issue of deceit from our political leaders and this has kept us backward as a nation for years.
I believe there are certain indices that should determine who has done well in government and I can say that obaseki government has failed in these aspects.
No government should brag about private investments in his state but should rather show us what he has done with tax payers money coming in every month as federal allocations.
Private investments are not government owned and with time will be subjected to the economic policies of the nation and hitherto folds up when the tides are not favourable to them. It is thus the responsibility of a sane governor to create an enabling environment for private investments to thrive and also attract new ones. This is therefore nothing to brag about.
There are people who has been employed in the public sector since they were 20years of age and retired at 60 years. Which private company can boast of this? In fact at any slight economic downturn, private companies keep sacking staff. This further shows that public owned investments are what a nation needs to keep its citizens employed in the long term.
We have seen cases in this country where some so called private investments are latter owned by our leaders after the leave office. Thus, when a governor brags with private investments as his achievements, he is relatively telling us that his government has succeeded in enriching themselves and their rich friends when they leave power.
Also annoying is the fact that most of these so called private investments brought by obaseki are uncompleted in the last four years!. But private companies attracted by oshiomole such as tiles and rods manufacturing companies located in sapele road in Edo state all started full scale production within the the first 4years of oshiomole government.
Since 2017, Edo people has suffered from unequal governance, more than 14 constituents were not represented out of the 18 local government area in the state. The obaseki government has been relatively controlled by his deputy and SSG and this is why the deputy governor could not speak up because they have successful shut out oshiomole and grab power from the politically inexperienced governor.
I can state categorically that even the deputy governor knows that obaseki will lose on september 19. Governance is about welfare, equal representation and provision of permanent public infrastructures and all this is lacking in obaseki 4years as governor.
Obaseki lacks the political will to unite the state and equally distribute resources. So many government contractors have been jobless for a long time because he kept on giving contracts to his friends outside the state as if Edo people are dumb!
Only a man like pastor Osagie ize iyamu has the political will to unite the state. Ize iyamu remains a model for the future, he has never lacked followers since 1999 all because of his kind nature and excellent leadership skills.
We are tired of Mr MOU governor who is only known for renovating civil service buildings and shutting down central hospital for four years while spending 1 billion to fight covid 19 in just one month!
We say NO to a governor who cannot tolerate criticism! We say NO to a governor who claim he is not sharing money but buys PDP governorship ticket with billions.
Ize iyamu we know and come September 19, we will retired the ungrateful MOU governor from office.

Everything I hear you say about Ize-Iyamu is what we Edolites already know: He's an astute politician ONLY. Political dexterity doesn't translate to ingenuity in governance. You talked down on "private investment"; that's a sign that, like your principal, you don't understand the import neither do you know it's importance in 21st century governance. What do you think makes American and other civil society great? What do you think drives industrialization?
Like your principal, you don't see governance beyond federal allocation and security votes, even in a time like this when nations are thinking outside the box.
We know, what Ize-Iyamu can offer, and we know Buhari's somersault will be a child's play; and we don't want that in Edo. The sad thing is that you people do this for your personal interests (appointments), I do what I do for the benefit of the vast majority amongst whom are my loved ones and friends who deserve the benefits of true governance.
The construction of PZ road for example, opened up businesses for some of my hitherto jobless friends. That's what governance is about, not giving you a living (peanuts) but creating a means of livelihood.

Though your comment is of none effect cos its clear Godwin has won this election if all indicators are real time and there are some salient reason why its fair for Obaseki to win, where he does well or not.

Nobody is perfect in its entirety and same applies for Obaseki and just maybe, Ize iyamu could have been a better candidate but what would be run is the the fact that even if Ize iyamu should be elected, he would be subjected to even worse conditions and embarrassment than the ones subjected to Obaseki. One thing is for sure that he won't run the government in a free and fair manner. They will blackmail, squeeze and constantly remind him who made him governor and who the boss is. The biggest losers will be Edo people.

By Ize iyamu winning, we will see Oshiomole rise to power again both at the state and federal capacity and this time, he will be more ruthless considering the big embarrassment that Obaseki has caused him. The stooges in State Assembly will then be sworn in and the godfatherism structure will then be entrenched and the worst part, Nigerians will loose hope that they can't do anything about it.

Also, the so called godfathers will embark on vendettas on Obaseki such that they will inflict him with all source of frauds and corruption cases that we will not be able to decipher the truth from their lies and probably ignore every progress Edo made under Obaseki out of envy and hatred and again the biggest loosed is Edo people.

On the issue of Lagos influence, Iyamu will be forced to support that self acclaimed leader of all democrats man in bourdillon who interest is nothing but his, in his bid to become president of Nigeria. Tinubu will begin to influence the affairs of Edo just as we saw Desmond Elliot(a stupid man in recent times) making trashing comment about godfatherism and at this time, Edo can't do anything till another four years and by that time can't do anything again.

Gangsterism and thuggery will be entrenched to suppress opposition and dissenting voices. State will be exploited and and like Lagos, resources will be shared among the few and for anyone to make progress, they will be requiring permission.

All these are what is obtainable in Lagos already. Lagos will have to liberate themselves eventually but its more difficult to fight now than if they had rejected the such at earlier stage.

With Obaseki winning, he only has one point to prove and that's proving to Edo people that they didn't make any mistake. It only reveals that godfatherism has no place in nation building and democracy.

By this, they only show Nigerians that the power resides in them if they truly want it. Even more lagosians that needs such courage now starting with the Lagos east senatorial elections.

If the only legacy Buhari leaves is fair and credible elections, then I can and will praise him cos that's the basis for a prosperous bound nation. So the election is beyond Obaseki to say the least for a win for the Nigerian people.
