It was a dark hour when King Alec raced for his safety. He did all he could to make his horse run as fast as she could in the rocky western desert. While he rode, vultures flew above him, soaring high in the sky. While being hungry, they looked down with piercing eyes and opened nose in wait for the kill. Scanty clouds travelled in the direction of the wind as rays of the sun beamed upon the earth. With sweats on his skin, Alec rode to save his own life. Behind him were agents of death - men of war who knew no mercy. They were Adrian's men. Among them were archers whose arrows missed Alec.
‘Make sure you get him!’, said Adrian, Alec’s arch-enemy. Adrian was Alec's younger brother. Their mother was named Miriah, the Queen of Roga. Soldiers pursued the King through the rocky desert of Rana, which led into Eshkron. In his flight, Alec maneuvered his way into the forest of Eshkron; a decision he wouldn't have made if his life was not at stake. He had no choice, for that was his only chance of survival if there was any at all. ‘Halt! Let him go. See, he goes into that forest. It is certain he will never come back’, said Adrian. The forest of Eshkron was popularly known as the forbidden forest. People believed the forest is filled with deadly horrors that spares no man who goes into it. Adrian and his men stopped chasing Alec as he rode towards the forest – then he aimed his arrows at him and made two clean shots. 'Hahaha, He is doomed to die’, he said. All this happened that the King's crown may be taken from him.
When Adrian came down from his horse, he found a large rock and inscribed the following words on it: “In the forbidden forest of Eshkron lie Alec, the King of Roga. Bow in honour.” Afterwards, he caused his men to swear an oath of allegiance. ‘You have all made the right choice of being loyal to me. For this reason, I shall make you commanders of my army when I am crowned the new King of Roga in my brother’s stead’, said Adrian. Thus, he made them commanders of his army just as he promised. Alec, was struck with an arrow in a critical part of his body and he lost a lot of blood as he rode between the cold forest trees. He became weakened by his deep wound, but kept riding until he was sure that no-one followed him.
It was foggy and hazy. Seeing there was no one behind him, he slowly stopped his horse. ‘It is okay, Shadow. We are safe now’, he said to her. She neighed and snorted in distress. ‘You are all I have now, Shadow.’ Alec leaned towards her ears and whispered words of comfort to her. He then tried to brake off the arrow that had pierced him, but could not. He shouted, for its pain was too much to bare. He was still bleeding, and was feeling numbness slowly spreading in his body. Sweat rolled down his long hair. He couldn’t hold on to his horse any much longer, so he fell to the floor. It didn’t take long when Shadow fell too, for she was also struck by one of Adrian's two arrows. It did strike her as she raced into Eshkron in a bid to save her master’s life. In Eshkron did King Alec lay. This is the story of how it all began - a story about the making of Elymas.

It was 10 B.C. – at the time Rome conquered the world; the same year Claudius was born. There were three roman provincial cities near the river of Oshea. The Roman Empire, under the leadership of Julius Caesar, had given up its control over the three cities. Thus, were they made to become autonomous cities when the emperor decided to cease occupying them.
All of the foreign soldiers were evacuated. River Oshea had its source from the mountain that was by the hill of Payatar. Its waters flowed through Eshkron into the black sea. Roga was the first of the three cities and the biggest of them all. It was a city built on the rocky mountains of Pira which stood east of Eshkron. The outer gates of the city were made of strong metals – the strongest of metals known at the time. Its gates had metal spikes on them to ward enemies off. The city also had thick walls and strong military presence.
Roganians, as its people were distinctly called, were the inhabitants of the city. They were skilled blacksmiths and goldsmiths. They were good at forging weapons and they made jewelries with precious metals; by the craft of their hand was the city beautified with gold.
