The bold announcement this morning by the US department of state of banning some individuals in Nigeria due to election matters makes us wonder if this is really a threat...

Nigeria is ripe to have a decent electoral system, the ruling party came to power by a decent one and has since turned it to child's play.. Regretably some who cried against PDP crazy ways of politics are today strongly supporting the abuse of electoral process..

From an open eye robbery in Osun, Lagos and Kano use of thugs , supreme governor of imo state to even the removal of the legitimate elected Bayelsa governor , these are all crazy electoral process we have witnessed..


Now comes to the US visa bans, to the common man , these visa bans have no meaning but to the elites in Nigeria, this visa ban is life.. From their financial transactions , personal business to visiting friends and family, not to forget their health checks ...

America visa bans can trigger other bans or more intense checks from other countries...For example, most Nigerian politicians are also businessmen who seek international partners for funding projects ( Dangote refinery is a prime example) , American visa bans restricts you from assessing some funds for business , like I said before common men in Nigeria are way off from this ...


The US government knows all this and have always use it as a strong tool of diplomacy , Atiku for example had to first clear himself to validate his credibility... In the big boys game of the world , Americans are still central ..



For novices who will prop up the ruling party , let it be known that even before the re election of Buhari , a secret meeting was held between the ambassador of Nigeria in the US and the US government , having violated a lot of America interest , Buhari knew he too needed to validate his credibility to be re elected again , an agreement was reached to buy American defence worth over 400 million dollars and in turn was allowed to meet President Trump ..


Note that Nigeria was going through financial recession at that time and Buhari had initially refused to buy expensive American defence to opt for more cheaper ones from Asia but the chips are down , he made the call.. This is the sacrifice made to validate his credibility despite those weapons were even billed to be delivered 2022..


In summary, American access is 2nd to Life for every Elite in Nigeria and therefore the most feared individual punishment but to the common man is just rubbish...
