The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Revenue generation Chief Iheanyi Igboanulam has called on market leaders in the state to identify with Governor Okezie Ikpeazu's vision of raising the state IGR through the markets for greater service delivery.

Chief Igboanulam who made the call during an interactive meeting with Leaders of various markets in Umuahia and it's environs at Government House, Umuahia on ways to boosting the state IGR, noted that the administration of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is making frantic efforts towards leaving the state better than he met it.

He assured that proper attention will be giving to the issues raised by the market leaders including the relocation of traders scattered at the city centre to the Ubani Ibeku Ultra modern market, the immediate insistence that all trucks bringing goods in Umuahia should offload at Ubani Ibeku market for accessibility of the goods to the traders and to enable Government get it's due revenue from the goods among other issues.

In his remarks, the Chairman Timber/Industrial market,Ahiaeke Mr Austine Onyenweaku identified the poor condition of the Umuahia-Ihie Ndume-Ahiaeke-Ikwuano axis of the Umuah-Ikot Ekpene federal road as a major cause of poor patronage to traders at the market who now prefer the Onuimo Market due to its accessibility.

Also contributing, the Chairman Ubani Ibeku Ultra modern market, Chief Chukwuma Akaegbu named multiple police check points on the Umuahia-Ubani road, lack of security at the Ubani Ibeku market, lack of entry and exit gates, the inaccessibility of the Mbom -Ubani Ibeku road among other issues as major challenges leading to poor revenue generation in the market.

He appealed to the state government to relocate traders scattered around the city centre back to the market as well as ensure that goods meant for traders in Umuahia are offloaded in Ubani Ibeku market as the market has enough provision for such services.
