Most times, it's very annoying and frustrating to look in the mirror and see those dark under eyes that makes us look a little older than what we are. We try lots of remedies in the hope that it would help clear it, but to no avail.
Firstly, you must understand what dark circles are, their causes and how to avoid it while maintaining a good skincare routine.

•The skin loses collagen naturally overtime and grows thinner and veins start to show through the thin skin around the eyes.

Exposure to the sun is one factor that speeds up the breaking-down process of collagen. So, a good way to prevent under eye circles is consistent sunblock application habits from a tender age. It could be by wearing sunglasses while out in the sun.

Genetics are another big determinant of what kind of skin one will have and one's look as they age. People who have inherited fair or thin skin often tend to show under circles more easily than others due to the fact that when their blood pools in the capillaries under their eyes, it's easily seen through lighter skin.

For some people, dark under eye circles aren't caused by aging, genetics or sun bathing, but rather by simple allergies like those to dust or mold. It could also be seasonal allergies experienced in the spring which trigger the release of histamines and thereby causing the blood vessels under the eyes to become inflamed and swell.

Some effective remedies you could try out are;

•ROSE WATER

Rose water is also helpful for soothing and rejuvenating tired skin, works as a skin toner and a mild astringent.

How to use:

Soak cotton makeup remover pads in rose water for a few minutes and place on your closed eyelids. Let it sit for about 15 minutes, repeat it twice daily.

•COLD TEA BAGS

Many teas like green tea have antioxidants, which contains anti inflammatory properties that are helpful with soothing strained capillaries in your under eye area.
How to use:

Soak two tea bags in clean water, place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Then place each of them on your eyes and allow for 10 minutes. After removing, rinse the area with warm water. Use it twice daily.

•TUMERIC

Tumeric reduces dark circles, given that, it is an effective natural antioxidant and also contains anti-inflammatory substances.

How to use:

Mix some tumeric powder with an amount of pineapple juice to make a thick paste. Apply the mixture to your under eye circles and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Use a soft, warm and damp cloth to remove the paste gently. Use this once a day.

•COFFEE

Coffee has natural lightening agents present in it which helps with the discoloration under the eyes.

How to use:

Mix 1 tbsp of ground coffee with 1tsp of honey and a few drops of vitamin E oil in it. Apply the paste under your eyes and leave for 15 minutes then wash it off. Use twice daily.

•ALOE VERA BUTTER
