Governor Nasir El-Rufai has signed the Kaduna State legal code (Amendment) Law 2020.
According to a statement by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Muyiwa Adekeye, the amendment also updates the penalties for the offence of rape of a child.
It noted that these new provisions include the punishment of surgical castration for male and bilateral salpingectomy [surgical removal of both fallopian tubes] for female convicts of child rape, and death.
In addition, the statement stated that such convicts would be listed within the Sex Offenders Register to be published by the Attorney-General of the state.
The statement titled, ‘Kaduna Update: Gov El-Rufai signs amended Rape Law of Kaduna State,’ reads,
“It introduces stricter punishments than the previous law which carried a maximum penalty of 21-year imprisonment for the rape of an adult and life imprisonment for the rape of a child.

I wish similar punishment would be meted on corrupt politicians & public servants.
