Ball valves in domestic water supply networks have now almost completely superseded tapered plug valves due to their reliability and durability. Which is an order of magnitude higher than the old designs. The main thing that ensures the reliability of the 3-Way Ball Valve as a shut-off valve compared to cone plug valves. The working medium (water) with solid abrasive particles is passed in the ball valve past the sealing surfaces through the hole in the spherical valve, on the passage, and in the valve with a cone plug - around it.
