Good day nairalanders,
My name is Onyeloni.
I need your advises on the right action to take as regards a likely Police harassment.

On Saturday 19th September, 2020., at around 2PM, I set out for a visit to a repair man that would sell a refrigerator to me but the journey was swayed after much rain drench on me because I couldn't locate a cyclist timely on the lonely roads leading away from the outskirts of Obiaruku Town.

At around 5pm, the rain slowed down, I decided to go back home. On getting home, I was told that men of the Nigeria Police Force just left my place.
I asked why they came and I was told that the Police officers said they were patrolling and some people ran past/around my house hence they would like to see the house occupants.

The interveners from the neighborhood said one of the police officers identified himself as:
Mr I.K, OC Surveillance, Agbor Area Command, Delta State and he handed over a phone I dropped in my house to him.
This means that they had gone into my apartment in my absence because I left the door to my kitchen open due to the faulty key.

Now, I'm confused what should I do?

Should I go all the way from Obiaruku to Agbor (1 hour journey) to see them?, And if I go, what if they detain me for something I know nothing about?

Or should I just move on and wait till they come again?

I'm really confused.

NOTE: I'm not an internet fraudster. I work in an hotel, own betting shops and also farm while I'm studying medicine and surgery.

Pls mod move to fp.

Studying medicine alone is an achievement in Nigeria and you know police hate Nigeria youths doing well

Nice advice but I do not wish to spend money on a lawyer as I didn't receive an official invitatation, but if this is what will save me; then I would do it.

What are you reporting for?
If they wanted you to come, that will be communicated to your neighbor.

Please search all the corners of your apartment, repair any bad doors or anything, cos if a search is conducted and they find stuffs in your house you are in trouble, then you can go to them after searching your rooms by yourself.
