The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, said that Nigerians believe that state governors are thieves, wasting resources.

The governor said this in an interview with Sunrise Daily, in response to why he holds the opinion that being a governor in Nigeria was the worst job.

He said, “We came into office at a very bad time in terms of economic viability. We came in when oil prices were crashing into the twenties and we had inherited bureaucracies that were designed and structured around $100 per barrel oil. We had inherited wages at that level as well. A good number of governors are daft, corrupt and evil and that explains why they build only roads and bridges for kick backs.
