Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki will commence a ‘Thank You’ tour of South-South states this afternoon to appreciate governors in the region for supporting his victory at the polls last Saturday.

The tour will begin from Asaba, the Delta state capital, where he would pay a thank-you visit to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Obaseki, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled a total of 307, 955 votes to defeat All Progressives Congress’s Osagie Ize-Iyamu who got 223, 619 votes, according to the result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Following Obaseki’s disqualification from participating in the APC primary, he defected to the PDP and was greatly supported by PDP governors in the South-South.

The PDP also named Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers as the chairman of the party’s National Campaign Council in Edo.
