How did you learn to ride a bike? Someone probably gave you some advice and then you practiced a lot. You can learn to study in a very similar way. Nobody is born knowing how to study. You need to learn a few study skills and then put them into practice to develop good study habits.

What you will study techniques? They will facilitate academic learning and help you achieve better test results, especially when you start high school.

Here are six steps to better study:

Pay attention in class.
Take good notes.
Plan exams and school assignments in advance.
Divide the matter into small pieces. (If you have a lot of material to learn, break it down into more affordable blocks.)
Ask for help if you get blocked or watertight.
Get a good night's sleep!
1. Pay Attention: Good Study Habits Start in Class
Here's something that will probably surprise you: did you know that before you start studying, you've already started doing it? How is it possible? When you pay attention in class and take good notes, you are beginning the process of learning and studying.

Do you have a hard time paying attention in class? Do you sit near a person who talks a lot or is very loud? Do not you see the blackboard well? Make sure you sit in a good place so you can pay attention. If there is something that prevents you from paying attention or taking good notes in class, tell the teacher or your parents about it.

2. Good notes facilitate study
Can't take notes? Begin by writing down the information that your teacher explains or writes on the board during class. Try to write good letters so that later you understand your notes. It is also a good idea to have your notes, tests, pop quizzes, and work papers sorted by subject.

3. If you plan the study in advance, then you will be glad you did
Waiting for Thursday afternoon to study Friday's test will force you to kneel your elbows all night long, which is not fun at all! Also, you will hardly give your best if you do not sleep all night. We all procrastinate from time to time. One of the best ways to make sure that doesn't happen to you is by planning your study time in advance.

Ask for a cool calendar (one that you like and that you can keep near your desk or study place) and write down the due dates for school assignments and exams. Then plan how much time you will spend each day studying when you leave college or institute and how much time you will spend on each subject. Do classes and after-school activities make it hard for you to find time to study? Ask your mother or father to help you create a schedule to organize your time.

4. Divide it into small pieces!
When you have to study a lot of material, it will help to divide it into small pieces. Let's say you have a spelling test on 20 words. Instead of thinking about all the words at once, try dividing your work into blocks of five words and study one or two blocks each day.

Don't worry if you don't remember something you studied first. That's where practice comes into play. The more days you spend reviewing something, the more likely it is to stick in your memory. There are also some tricks, like mnemonic rules, that help you remember things. For example, if you have to memorize a list, build a phrase or word with the first letter of each item on the list. Suppose you have to learn the eight planets of the solar system ordered according to the distance that separates them from the sun. The phrase "Marta Saw Your Mother Pulling Alone One Night" can help you remember "Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune." Your teacher may also give you ideas.

Another way to divide the material into blocks is to study regularly instead of leaving everything until the last day. The afternoon prior to the exam can be spent reviewing the notes or rereading the topics. Or, if you are studying math or science, you can do problems to practice.

How long can you study every afternoon? Your teacher can help you to know it. Most brains can only focus intently on something for about 45 minutes. In other words, if you have been studying for a long time and you notice that it is beginning to be difficult for you to maintain your attention, try to pause by going to get a glass of water or taking a walk around your house! But do not be tempted to put TV and / or stop studying!

5. If you are stuck, ask for help
You can't study well when you don't understand the subject. Make sure to ask your teacher for help if there is something you don't quite understand. You can try to get out of the pothole by rereading your notes. Do you clarify something? If not, ask the teacher to explain it again or to
