Fruit Battery by Fame007: 12:29pm On Sep 23, 2020
A battery comprises of two electrodes, and an electrolyte to keep them apart. Making Orange batteries is a fun experiment. Today we decided to broaden the discussion by making our own fruit battery. The acid in orange makes it possible for it to generate electricity✌, implying that any acidic fruit can generate electricity But first, what is the science behind making fruit batteries?
An orange battery is a simple battery often made for the purpose of education. Typically, a piece of zinc metal (such as a galvanized nail) and a piece of copper (such as a copper wire) are inserted into an orange and connected by wires. Power generated by reaction of the metals is used to power a small device such as a light emitting diode (LED).

Materials:
5 Oranges
Black electrical tape
Five zinc-plated nails
Five pieces of copper wire
A very small low power electronic device like digital wrist watch, calculator, thermometer, remote control and an LED.
