Depends on kind of snake. A bite on the head by a venomous serpent leaves the victim almost a very short time to live. These venoms contain neurotoxins that act on the central and peripheral nervous systems. The substances are transported to the heart by blood which pumps them to the brain, spinal cord, and other organs where they cause organ damage and death. Brain death can result from a head bite depending on how the toxins were able to cross the blood brain barrier. It's also a relatively short travel from the head to the heart and tying up the neck might be useless because of vessels like the internal jugular vein which is a paired jugular vein that collects blood from the brain and the superficial parts of the face and neck, to the heart. The toxins get to the heart in a short time and the heart distributes them to all other organs. It's fatality. |
