The Federal Government on Tuesday commenced the deployment of professional treasury officers to revenue generating ministries, departments and agencies in a bid to improve the country’s revenue base.

Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, said an important sector with huge potential was the revenue generation arm of the Federal Government Owned Entities.

Ahmed spoke in Abuja at the orientation for directors of revenue in FGOEs organised by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.

She said, “You may all wish to know that analysis of budgets of some of the FGOEs shows that these entities have the capacities, if properly managed, to significantly improve the revenue base of the Federal Government.

“It is in this light that the deployment of the treasury directors is considered expedient to the selected FGOEs as a pilot test.”

The minister explained that the deployment of directors of revenue to the FGOEs was in compliance with presidential approval that was conveyed via the Secretary to the Government of the Federation’s circular with reference SGF.50/S.3/C.9/24, dated October 16, 2018.

She said the circular was on the approved Revenue Performance Management Framework for Government Owned Enterprises.

Ahmed said the government was increasingly concerned about the dwindling profile of revenues, adding that the trend had to be quickly arrested particularly with key revenue generating agencies of government.

sparogatively under this present administration Nigeria has been sparogated.

They complain of no funds and tax us to pay for the loan they borrowed to embezzle and still have the guts to say they want to create another agency which them and their cronies will hold captive to siphon and milk us dry the more.

Naija Youths need to do something... It's obvious we don't like what's going on!

Does it mean that the Treasury Single Account (TSA) has failed?

They said every revenue goes into that account, what went wrong?

Nigeria! Are they not paid salary like every other civil servant? Will the head of the MDA allow them work without interference?

I think the best approach to this is to engage a private company and pay them commission based on revenue generated.

Can Nigeria be revived? If yes, who can do that? I know its only God that can revive Nigeria, but who can God use?

Majority of Nigerians don't actually know the true condition of Nigeria, and what our leaders do to the country daily. I am thinking if they know, they'll hunt them down one by one and hang them, no matter what it costs. Nigeria is on the verge of collapse.

You don’t need no prophet to tell you that the Federal government needs money badly and they are ready to get it by all means.

In another thread, one Agency said each Nigerian owed about 155k and some people were saying they won’t pay.

These set of people don’t understand how taxes and price increase work fa.

Money wey everybody don dey contribute already.

You shouldn't expect better from a government like this, so it's no surprise.
Their inability to be truthful for once speaks volumes of their intentions. A government in which different representatives speak differently on the same issues, shows that their only form of unity is in their joint ambition to better their own lives and that of their allies. Virtually all of them have no idea of the reality Nigerians face and if they do, it's obvious they're less concerned.
My only advice is to hustle make u sef become big man/woman, cos the state no get anything to offer u

Every security gate/check(including the dreadful TSA) is as strong as the human factor in place. Would the treasurers come from the moon? Once theres a collusion, you have just added another waste pipe to the system.

Why do they need more money, they completely failed to use the one at their disposal properly, cause I still remember how minister of disasters was feeding school pupils even when all children are at home.

Oh, they want more monies for themselves and families, looters

I thought all MDAs are remitting their income into the TSA or whatever they call it.

I thought government is talking about digitalising it's income structure

When some of the MDAs are relatively redundant, you're employing more treasurers to track corruption or to lead the act.

I'm short of words for the the female ministers in this regime. Anyway what a man can do, a woman can do better.

That Humanitarian and Disaster minister is still leading sha.

Nigeria will always shame you.

This is what they should have done instead of trying to takeover church's finance. Let universities too account for what they get with an external treasurer like this arrangement. NDDC, NEDC and others too.

And these treasurers will form a synergy with the chairmen, DGSA's and HOD's and collaboratively, they will suck those agencies dry, just the way it use to happen in our local government secretariats.
