LET'S GET INSPIRED BY THIS SICKLE CELL WARRIOR

On the premiere of bigbrother naija season 5, a very petite guy walked on stage and broke the internet because of his outfit and his looks,he even trended worldwide on twitter
Many viewers trolled him because of his looks, other guys were hefty, muscular and extremely handsome but he was tiny and average looking and called himself a rapper. They said he looked like a thief, a criminal that what is he doing in that house and so on.
The trolling was enough to catch my attention because I felt they were not justified and were too quick to judge a book by it's cover. Immediately that night his music was all over social media and I was wowed because he is super talented
Then I was curious to see what he will be up to , other housemates looked down on him the first day because he looked like a misfit but he was eventually able to rap before they went to bed and some of them were smitten.

The 2nd day he engaged in conversations and many of them realised he isn't their mate when it comes to intelligence, viewers quickly dubbed him Laycon the aristotle, I remember a co-housemate telling him when I listen to you I become wiser. He also got the attention of many other housemates afterwards. We later realised he was the best graduating student in his department in unilag
He has won almost 80% of the tasks they've been given in the house. Almost all housemates like to have him in their task group because of his intelligence and work ethic.

He became my favourite housemate by far right from the first week and has never let me down. He is a complete package as far as I'm concerned, I've never been about just looks and relationships. He won me over with his intelligence, talent , simplicity, humility, genuineness but most importantly self confidence, as different as he looks, as much as people tend to underrate him he never underrated himself. He doesn't think anyone is better than him. He said and I quote "When they underestimate you, never underestimate yourself".
He was talking about the female celebrity crush he would like to date and someone said , what if your crush only likes tall people and he replied "I'm tall with my brain". Such confidence! Such high self esteem!

He once said "It doesn't get to me when people insult me because of my size because I know that's the only thing they have on me, other than that they've got nothing on me, I have everything else in abundance".
The way Laycon won me over is the same way he won millions of Nigerians over, right from the first 2weeks of the show he became the most popular housemate by far. What is not to love about him? with all the qualities I mentioned above he is still funny and fun to watch although he's not perfect, no one is but even if he is there are some few people that still won't like him.
In almost 10weeks not once did he mention his genotype , he didn't even think of using it to play the game maybe it will get him pity votes since people usually like pitying sickle cell warriors, he could have been evicted many times in 9weeks and we wouldn't know nothing. It's only few days to the end of the show and a discussion made him say it just yesterday night.
He said I don't like telling people my genotype because they look at me like I'm sick, many sickle cell warriors can actually relate to this. He mentioned his 'SC' genotype and I was like wow! Then some things started making sense.

The way he never joins others to work out no matter the persuasion, all he does is walk around. I can remember him saying I weigh 55kg and I was like this boy weighs almost the same as me. Someone was hitting him and practising boxing and he told her I don't have the facilities for that, stop. Then it clicked, this is why. Also realizing that he is a sickle cell warrior made all the bodyshaming he got on the show hurt more.

I remember he was called a drumstick because of his size, also ugly thing , he was told he will die lonely and soon. This guy didn't respond, he didn't take any of these things serious, till tomorrow he will defend the person that abused him that it was only due to alcohol intoxication. Sometimes I see him and say to myself, what manner of human being is he?

Remembering all the bodyshaming he got from some set of viewers because he fell in love with a girl they think is not on his level when it comes to looks now irks me the more. Tweets I read like he looks like he has HIV/AIDS, he looks like a suffer head ikpekere , he looks like sickle cell, a rat like him , how can someone like him fall for this beauty queen? Can you allow your sister date someone that looks like this? They all ring in my mind.
All that happened never ever gave him a low self esteem in that house. Despite being a sickle cell warrior he won most Nigerians and Africans over with his intelligence, his talent, his good heart and his fun self without talking about his genotype . He was winning back to back to back, he gave his supporters bragging rights everytime. Getting over 50% of votes when 3 other strong housemates were up a week to the end of the show should tell you how much people love him .This particular sickle cell warrior inspires me!

If you are a sickle cell warrior never let stigmatization get to you , never let their hurtful words affect your self esteem. Hold your head high, you are not what they think you are, you are what you think you are.
Always remember, you are more than just a sickle cell warrior. Go forth and inspire!

By the way, I can't wait to watch "LAYCON" OLAMILEKAN AGBELESHEBIOBA win the BBN LOCKDOWN on Sunday. He absolutely deserves!
Even if he doesn't win it, his greatness in life has just started, such an inspirational 26year old.

A SICKLE CELL WARRIOR I STAN!
He makes me more proud to be a sickle cell warrior.
