So Tell Me About Yourself

Have you ever been into a situation where you are literally close to getting the job of your dream but the interview seems to turn out badly?

You submitted your CV and you waited, waited and finally, the hiring company put a call through, you're glad and can't wait to start your long-awaited job.

And now you got the interview, you're sitting across the table and the hiring manager smile and asked you this simple question:

" "

And you panic…

You don't know what to say…

You don't know where to start..

You're starting to stutter.

Half-way through the conversation, you literally slammed yourself for the response you gave.

You said to yourself "Urgh, why did I even say that?"

You never get a second chance to make the first impression.

Usually, that hiring manager makes up his or her mind in the first 3 minutes of the conversation.

And so painful, you lost the job.

Well, do not give up.

I've been there and I felt so bad too, I lost a really high paying job because of my cluelessness but I decided to turn things around by finding the best answer to this question.

And this is what I'm about sharing with you.

Usually, whenever I'm asked this question, my response is always about my background, parents, school, color, etc.

However, the hiring manager is not interested in any of this, he's not interested in your life story.

His major concerns are what you are offering to the company.

So this question literally translates to

" "

They are asking what you're bringing to the table.

I mean...

What problem can you solve for the company?

So when answering this question always allow your statement revolves around what's in it for them.

Let your response to each question always be tied back to the benefits the company is deriving from it.

You also want to be your best self when answering this question.

In my search for an authentic answer to this question, I've figured out a template that is best suited.

I used this template for one of my online interviews and it worked like magic.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the outcome of this strategy.

This super template will make you become irresistible to your hiring manager. It will literally make them beg you for the job.

I know you don't believe it, but follow me closely.

Here's what I'm talking about.

I call it the 3S formula.

To break it down, this is what it means:

, , .

Now, let's take it a bit practical.

Beginning with the first S, which stands for SUCCESS.

Whenever you are being asked such questions (Tell me about yourself).

Start by sharing your SUCCESS.

You can start with…

I have been…..

For example, let's say you're applying for a Social Media Manager position, you would say something like...

" ℎ ℎ ℎ , ℎ ℎ , ℎ ℎ ℎ ℎ 10 .

  , ' ℎ ℎ 300-500% ℎ 6 ℎ ℎ' ℎ ' "

Did you see that?

Let's move to the second S, which is…

STRENGTH

To apply that you'll say something like…

My real strength……

For example,

  ℎ ℎ ℎ . ℎ.

Moving to the last S, which is the SITUATION.

This basically is where you become so irresistible to your employer.

You'll show them how you can apply your previous success and strength to the situation of their company.

To do that you'll begin with a simple sentence like:

What I'm looking for….

For example, you can say.

ℎ ' ℎ (), ℎ .

 ℎ ℎ ( ) ?

Did you see that?

Make sure you add that question because the person who asks the question controls the conversation.

Now you might be asking yourself…

Does this mean I have to memorize some sort of script when attending an interview?

The answer is a resounding "Yes".

Understand that you have many people competing with you for that same job and you can't afford to lose at this time.

So make adequate preparation when attending that interview. It's worth it.

Which strategy from this post are you gonna try first?

If you've got value in this post and you'll love to get access to more, I have created a FREE WhatsApp class where you can get answers to your job search questions.
