FG Sneaks Power To Arrest Without A Warrant Into The Signed Police Reform Bill. by JaffyJoe(m): 9:10pm On Sep 24, 2020
While Nigerians are still trying to come a grasp of different cutthroat anti-people's policies the government of General Buhari is subjecting them to lately, Aso Rocks is of the opinion that the citizens aren't having just enough. On this basis, they decided to grant the Nigerian Police Force unrestrained liberty to arrest anyone they THINK is stolen, or they THINK is PLANNING to commit a crime WITHOUT WARRANT.

Basically all a policeman need to arrest you and I is just to THINK we are or have a tendency to be what he thinks. Another win for sai babarisms. grin

It's not the fault of Aso rock, it's the fault of those who after hearing all of the human right abuses Buharei committed in 1984, still voted him in 2015 and 2019.

To arrest without a warrant?
You are under arrest, you have the right to remain silent, if you disrupt that right, anything you say can, may and will be used against you in the court of law.
Let's obey the Law and do good always to avoid been arrested.

So the president goes ahead and signs laws that are oppressive to the people he swore to protect, just because the people elected to discuss the issues are doing nothing?

Is that how it should be?

What do you mean by FG sneaks power into a bill. What were the 109 senators and 360 members of representatives (that includes members of the opposition) doing when the law was being passed?

For your information, there are some arrests that do not require a warrant and the law has been there is the creation of of the police.

didn't this law already exist somewhere in the constitution ?

Either way this is very bad , like very very unreasonable , but i am sure Buhari didn't write this law and i don't think senate and hor / whoever handles our laws were blind when this nonsense was drafted

this gives too much power to police especially sars to harrass people even more
Re: FG Sneaks Power To Arrest Without A Warrant Into The Signed Police Reform Bill. by pacino26(m): 4:19am On Sep 25, 2020
I can see some peeps saying the police have been carrying out arrests without warrant before, that's true. Most of those arrests if ever finds it way to court never leads to conviction.

The issue here is abuse of power because most police officers are wired wrongly, so their ability to think properly and access situations are in doubt.

You see a police officer shout thief thief! While another without any evidence shoots the citizen in the spot because he thinks the person is a thief.

My pops used to say the difference between the military and para military services is their ability to question orders and the rationale behind such orders. But with this Bill (which I think have been in existence for special occasions) gives the average SARS officer to think and suspect that you have a gun with you and kills you on the spot because he thinks you just shot another fathom citizen somewhere.

We don't have to politicize everything or divide ourselves in baseless argument while our fundamental rights are slowly been taken away in bits and pieces. The summation of all the micro bills and laws will one day amount to a very terrible outcome for the common man. When that day comes, we are going to be puzzled by how did it come to be!

The word is REASONABLY SUSPECT and THE CRIME CANNOT BE PREVENTED BY OTHER MEANS.

The evidence you posted contradicts your op, it must take a certain level of shameless to lie this way maybe because you think most nairalanders are like ipob whose thinking only works one direction.

The police can arrest without warrant someone who he Reasonably believes that is suspected to have committed a crime.

WHAT AMOUNTS TO REASONABLE??
WHO DETERMINES WHAT'S REASONABLE?

So I can be walking along the road, and a police van can stop beside be and I get arrested on grounds that they REASONABLY suspect I'm a criminal.

Shey we never buy market for Naija so?? We are currently been plagued by SARS wahala, and here again is our foolish president empowering the police more and more.
