Ten Major Take Away From The BBC Yoruba debate Held Yesterday

1- Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, has performed creditably well in his first term in office. He is determined to do more if given the opportunity to come back for a second term.

2- Continuity is key. The administration of Governor Akeredolu has initiated the process of establishing a deep sea port in Ondo State. Only his return for a second term can drive this process through. Else, all the progress made on the deep sea port will be abandoned by another Governor just like Mimiko abandoned it for eight years.

3- There are new projects that can not be finished in his first term. There is a need to return him for a second term so that these projects will not be abandoned. Despite the various projects he has completed, Governor Akeredolu is still initiating new projects.

4- Amotekun has helped in reducing the rate of kidnapping in the state. The security outfit is working vigorously with the police and other security agencies to gather intelligence and prevent crimes in the area of kidnapping.

5- Governor Akeredolu achievements in the health sector is unprecedented in the state. He met just two mother and child hospitals in the state. He has expanded it to seven. He established the Teaching hospital and ensured that courses are accredited at the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo. (UNIMED). He has also built a new critical care Unit at the Teaching hospital in Akure while the construction of a 500 bed hospital is under construction in both Akure and Ondo teaching hospitals respectively.
The Akeredolu administration is also the first to commence the Contributory health insurance scheme which has provided free health care service for children Under the age of Five and pregnant women.

6- Governor Akeredolu administration has spent more money in Ondo town than some other towns in the state. He paid the outstanding money owed contractors on all roads constructed by Mimiko in Ondo Town. Governor Akeredolu paid for the street lights in Ondo town.
The 500 bed Teaching hospital under construction is in Ondo town. The UNIMED where government spent so much to get courses accredited is in Ondo. The Akeredolu administration has just built a new and big isolation center in Ondo town.

7- Governor Akeredolu administration has reduced the tuition of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko after findings on the fee payable on some courses in Universities across the Southwest states, particularly, the Lagos State University (LASU).
Unlike when the immediate past administration was earning N9 Billion to N12 Billion, the Akeredolu administration has been earning less than N5 Billion from the FAAC. Yet, he has managed the three state owned Universities with an unprecedented achievements in Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) and others.

8- Governor Akeredolu administration has completed most inherited but abandoned and uncompleted projects.

9- Governor Akeredolu will continue to prioritize the payment of workers’ salary if re-elected for a second term in office. He inherited seven months unpaid salary. He has paid six. No matter the economy of the state, Governor Akeredolu will always pay workers’ salary in his second term.

10- Governor Akeredolu is the first Governor to constitute a board for special persons in the state and also employed 35 special persons.
