Daily Trust newspapers the most widely read newspapers in Northern Nigerian has blasted the governor of Kaduna state Mal Nasiru Elrufai for tagging a news on their platform as fake news.

The Governor had earlier responded to a story by the newspaper that 3 names had been submitted to him for selection as emir of Zazzau was fake news . However, Unknown to the governor the newspaper already had transcript of the Zazzau king makers meeting which was attended by the Commissioner of police , commissioner for local government and Director DSS.

The paper responded

"We stand by our story. We’re in possession of the minutes from the meeting of kingmakers recommending three princes, with scores, for possible appointment of one as Emir of Zazzau. The statement by Kaduna SSG confirms the @daily_trust report"


Reports have it that the governor is unhappy with the earlier list submitted to him hence the delay in the announcement of a new emir which traditionally should have been announced 3 days after the demise of the late emir.
