Igbo group condemns October 1 sit-at-home order
27-09-2020
An Igbo group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly Worldwide, has condemned the sit-at-home- order issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra for October 1.

The day is set aside for Nigeria's Independence anniversary.

In a statement by the President General of the group,Chief Basil Onuorah( a lawyer) on Sunday in Awka, the Anambra State capital, it called on members of the public to ignore the order and go about their normal businesses.

The Corporate Affairs Commission, had withdrawn the registration of Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly Worldwide shortly after its registration, apparently because of its name conflict with the Chief Nnia Nwodo-led Ohanaeze Ndigbo

In the statement on Sunday, ONGAW described a sit-at-home- order on a day the country is marking her independence anniversary as an insult to the late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe and others who achieved the country's freedom in 1960.

The statement read in part, " A call for sit at-home on Nigeria's Independence Day (October 1st), in South- East zone of the country is an aberration and insult to Igbo heroes who fought for Nigeria's independence with all their might.

"The efforts of Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe and all our heroes past can never be in vain. Ndigbo in Nigeria and the diaspora are hereby enjoined to ignore any purported order for sit-at-home on October 1st 2020.

"The apex Igbo sociocultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly Worldwide states firmly that the organization is not in support of the October 1st sit -at-home order.

"Any publication or gathering in the name of Ohanaeze Ndigbo anywhere in Nigeria or abroad without the due approval or recognition by the current National Executive of ONGAW amounts to impersonation and such conveners will be decisively dealt with. All Security Agencies are hereby informed to please take note.

The Indigenous People of Biafra had declared October 1 a sit-at-home day, stating that the decision was to avert possible mass killing the people of the area who might gather to celebrate Nigeria's 60th Independence day.

The Publicity Secretary of the Nwodo-led Ohanaeze Ndigbo,Uche Okpaga, reportedly backed the IPOB's order.

“If IPOB said so, we are supporting it. They are our children. We are supporting it since it is not against the law and so far as it is not a violent act. it is obtainable anywhere in the world. So, we are totally in support of it," Okpaga reportedly stated.

What is wrong with Nigerians?
So an Igbo man does not have the right to sit in his own house again.
Protest, you people will complain. Ordinary sitting again, you people will give us thousands of reasons not to sit down.
See the long epistle somebody wrote because of ordinary sitting down.

Only the Yoruba can divide Nigeria because they have lost the most and stand to gain the most from independence, Their land is rich and strategic. Their culture is rich and dynamic. Most importantly the Yoruba elite unlike the Igbo are confident and fully on board with the agitation. Igbo elite have become too comfortable with Nigeria. They fear the loss of Lagos and Abuja and are jealous and afraid of the success Oduduwa will be instantly. Igbo youths on the other hand are rightly confident of Biafra but cannot carry their leadership along.

I don't really understand how this should be an issue.

If person say e no go comot from his house for the rest of his life, how should that be my business? angry

The only problem I see here is that since ipob miscreants said they will sit at home, they shouldn't disturb anyone who wish to go out. Otherwise, that is where police will need to do something.

And for this reason, I hope the necessary security agencies should be alerted and where necessary, prepare in all respect.

No source? doesn't deserve the FrontPage. Whether Ohanaeze general or Ohanaeze general worldwide, these people should mind their own business and stop using IPOB to attempt climbing to limelight. Tomorrow, another group called RIPOB and NIPOB would emerge from no where and a newspaper would still give them audience because of the handouts they receive from government.Nigerian newspapers are now so useless that their reports are filled with grammatical blunders. No independent investigation, just reporting fake news to support the highest bidder. With time, more newspapers publishers would go bankrupt.

cheesy cheesy cheesy sponsored groups aimed at creating rancour within our ranks. We've taken note of you guys. These ones are different from the popular John Nwodo led Ohanaeze. Readers should recall that the CAC withheld the certificate of the original Ohanaeze because they claimed it clashed with that of these Abuja sponsored group.
All should bear in mind that the sit at home is for all Biafrans across the geopolitical regions that make up Biafra which is not just the SE. We shall continue to emphasize this fact to everyone.
Nnamdi Azikiwe has played his part and moved on. The so called Nigeria he fought for and championed her independence couldn't even give him the opportunity to lead her. That's how much they loved him.
October 1st is the date. Getting set for it.

If it's an insult to Zik it means I will obay the order. If there was no Zik there won't be IPOB. The mess Zik created is what Ipob is trying to clean.
