The President, Vision Africa International and Co-Chair Interfaith Dialogue Forum for Peace, Bishop Dr. Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha, has congratulated Nigeria leaders and Nigerians on the nation's 60th Independence Anniversary.

In his congratulatory message, the Global Peace Award Winner 2013, said it is a landmark achievement that the country has continued to be one indivisible entity despite multifaceted encumbrances that have constantly and continuously reared ugly heads in the quest to move forward as a nation.

He commended the efforts of founding fathers and the statesmanship exhibited by previous administrations at all levels that handed over the baton of leadership to the present administration, noting that their sacrifices and contributions will never go unrewarded.

The Methodist Bishop, said though Nigeria and her democratic institutions is still a work in progress, there is need to continue to press on and achieve the Nigeria our forefathers dreamt and pursued vigorously.

Bishop Dr. Onuoha, also called on those who threaten the peace and existence of the country through acts of terrorism including banditry, kidnapping among other crimes, to use this period of the nation's 60th Independence Anniversary to have a rethink and shun their actions for the collective good of the country.

He noted that peace is key in every nation as it has the potentials of unlocking doors that will lead to greatness as a people and as a nation, counselling those who sow seeds of discord through their utterances and actions to retrace their steps as it is against the dreams and aspirations of Nigeria's founding fathers.

The Peace Ambassador urged leaders to run a transparent government which is the hallmark of democracy, adding that after 21 years of uninterrupted democratic practice, the country has attained some level of maturity and joined the league of democratic states while calling on Nigerians to pray for their leaders always.
