The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has felicitated with Abians and indeed Nigerians as the country marks her 60th Independence Anniversary, encouraging Abians in particular to keep hope alive as the state passes through trying moments.

The party in a congratulatory message to Abians through its Deputy National Chairman, South, Engr. Uchenna Okogbuo, said though it has not been a smooth ride so far, Nigerians and indeed, Abians should celebrate at least for staying together after 29 years it gained independence from her colonial masters Britain.

He said there is no gainsaying the fact that the corporate existence of Nigeria is being threatened by activities of Boko Haram insurgents, bandits, kidnappers and other enemies of Nigeria, calling on the Federal Government to use the occasion of the 60th Independence Anniversary to address the issue of insecurity and if possible, heed the call by Nigerians to rejip the security architecture.

Engr. Okogbuo, charged Nigerian leaders at all levels to use the celebration to relegate to the background, issues of corruption, high-handedness and work towards delivering the dividends of democracy to the citizenry, which according to him is the basic tenet of democracy just as he added that the ruling class owes that to the citizens.

He particularly congratulated APGA faithful all over the country, admonishing them to keep faith in the party and work towards the party's victory at the Local government elections scheduled for December 19 in Abia state while reiterating his earlier call on Abia state Electoral Commission, ABSIEC to conduct a free, fair and credible LG election that will reflect the wishes and aspirations of the people of Abia State.
