A five-man panel of an Appeal Court in Abuja has confirmed the election of Douye Diri as the legitimate governor of Bayelsa State.

In a unanimous judgement, the Justice Adzira Gana Mshell-led panel held that the Bayelsa Election Petition Tribunal acted outside its jurisdiction by nullifying the election of Diri’s election.

Recall that Diri’s election was invalidated on the 17th of August, regarding the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) disbarment of Lucky King-George who is the candidate of the Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party (ANDP) which was termed as unlawful
