Why Do Nigerians Transport A Dead Family Member To The Village For Burial? by Nobody: 8:07am On Oct 03, 2020 |
I see families spend a lot to money to transport their love one to their state of origin for burial. Can't he/she be buried at the place they died?Or is their a repercussion in burying an Ibo man who died in lagos, and be buried in Lagos,or a Yoruba who died in Anambra and be buried in Anambra state instead of the state of origin he came from? I need the input of my learned colleagues. |

The very reason why the Ife People don’t respect the Fani-Kayodes is that Remi Fani-Kayode wasn’t buried in Ile-Ife, but Lagos. I think the reason is that the son of the soil belongs to the soil dead or alive and should not be “traditionally” allowed to be buried elsewhere. There should be a grave of the person in the hometown for future reference by the children when situations warrant. |
