Domestic violence is a form of violence in a relationship. It is a learned attitude that results in the maltreatment of a partner. Bear in mind that “learned” doesn’t need to mean it was carefully groomed like you would in a school. Entertaining the thought of it suggests it is learned too.

Abuse, on the other hand, is any action that intentionally harms or injures another person, according to the Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine. While abuse can range from emotional to verbal and others, we’ll be looking at physical abuse.

While there are many “reasons” for being violent and abusive in the books, none can justify the despicable act.
