In this post I would like to comment on it and expose my point of view what SEO does and does not do.

1. An SEO is not synonymous with selling more -> ERROR!

Although there is nothing written about SEO, at Social 4U, as an SEO agency , we have working guidelines and methodologies that we apply to our clients. The first point, an SEO is not synonymous with selling more, it is totally contrary to what we offer. Someone who hires an SEO wants to sell more. It is useless to appear in the top positions of Google if that does not help you to get visits to your website and, later, to transform those visits into sales.

2. An SEO does not have to do the marketing of your page

We are going to consider this point a success. Although everything is increasingly related and the ideal is to have a global online marketing strategy that includes SEO and other actions (not everything has to be done by the same person), an SEO is not a community manager or a content generator for example Although you can interact and give your point of view and recommendations to the people in charge of other aspects of online marketing.
When we talk about large companies, the coordination work can be carried out by a marketing manager for example, but in the case of small and medium-sized companies, SEO is the most appropriate person to coordinate the online marketing strategy.

3. An SEO is not a fortune teller and does not have to tell you visits do not turn into sales -> MISTAKE!

It is true that an SEO is not a fortune teller. But you have to know about e-commerce and you have to be able to find an explanation for why the visits that come to the online store do not turn into sales. The causes can be diverse. Higher prices than the competition, failure during the purchase process, visits that expected to find something different ... As I said in point 1, SEO is not putting a number of visits on the table. It is getting your client to earn money with those visits.

4. An SEO does not have to pick you up on the phone at all times to inform you, it only gives results.

Obviously, an SEO cannot be talking daily with his client, unless he is a worker of the company and holds constant meetings to plan actions or measure results. Still, SEO is a medium-long-term job and the results don't change much from one day to the next. At Social 4U we send monthly reports to our clients, telling them what we are doing, the results we are achieving and the planning for the following month with its corresponding objectives.

5. An SEO is not cheap, it is profitable or not profitable -> RIGHT!

Little to comment. For those who read our blog regularly, this phrase we have already repeated many times.
6. An SEO does not charge € 180, etc., to position yourself nationally for several keywords
Saying this like that up front is not knowing SEO. Before offering an SEO budget to any client, at Social 4U we analyze a little their website, their sector, their business. No two SEO projects are the same and therefore no two budgets are the same. 180, 300 or 1,000 are just numbers. We have already said on several occasions that you are not going to find a good SEO for € 50, but one that charges € 1,000 may not be either.

7. An SEO does not have to program or fix web pages

It may be true but half true. An SEO does not have to carry out programming tasks, but has to be able to identify problems on the web that influence the positioning and transmit the necessary orders to the programmer, in case it is someone else, to solve those problems .

8. An SEO is not for life


Again, it depends. If SEO poses your client with most of the items on this list, it typically doesn't last 2 months. Now, if the business grows and grows, continuously improving profitability thanks to the actions of an SEO, why do without their services?

9. An SEO is not like Google Adsense, the content that it publishes remains in time

The truth is that I do not understand this premise very well. If it means that once you position something in the first positions it stays there indefinitely, it depends. If you stop working and your competition starts to do it, they will surely surpass you. I imagine the comparison will be with Adwords, where your results are visible as long as you maintain the investment in advertising.
