Fear , anxiety and uncertainty have gripped the entire workers of the big oil giant multinational company as it plans a massive job cut of about 25% of its entire workforce. This is said to be massive and will impact negatively on the lives of those that will be affected including a spiral effect on there immediate families and relations especially in this difficult economic situation we have found ourselves in Nigeria where inflation is on the high side about 12.5% and unemployment rate is very high and the Federal govt recently increased the price of fuel and electricity tariffs.

The 25 per cent job cut according to the oil giant firm will take place across all levels of the downstream sector. The oil firm said the development followed the evolving negative operational environment in the energy sector.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that workers of the oil firm under the auspices of the PENGASSAN on Friday in Lagos protested the looming sack of 600 employees.
