Rip Sir.... My best was

Fulani Cattle by JP Clark

Contrition twines me like a snake

Each time I come upon the wake

Of your clan,

Undulating along in agony,

Your face of stool for mystery:

What secret hope or knowledge,

Locked in your hump away from man.

Imbues you with courage

So mute and fierce and wan

That, not demurring nor kicking,

You go to the house of slaughter?

Can it be in the forging

Of your gnarled and crooked horn

You’d experienced passions far stronger

Than storms which brim up the Niger?

Perhaps, the drover’s whip no more

On your balding mind and crest

Arouses shocks of ecstasy:

Or likely the drunken journey

From desert through grass and forest,

To the hungry towns by sea

Does call at least for rest-

But, will you not first reveal to me,

As true the long knife must prevail,

The patience of even your tail?

Rip to a legend .

Greatest poet who wrote like a white man.

The night rain still remains my favorite.

What of Olarotimi? The man who wrote the God's are not to blame". Great novel of all time.

Children don't read Interesting books these days like we did.

Books like
Kole the superstar
Ure Chokwe
Born wothout a silver spoon
She stoops to conquer
God's big toe ( very tragic story)
Snowball Animal farm.. I love this novel like kilode
The Concubine (Elechi Amadi)
Then shakespearen dramas sabastin and Sebastian.. ive forgotten the title of that drama. Though.

Days when education still got standard.

Coming and going these several seasons
Do stay out on the baobab tree
Follow where you please your kindred spirits If indoors is not enough for you.
True, it leaks through the thatch
When floods brim the banks
And the bats and the owls Often tear in at night through the eaves
And at harmattan, the bamboo walls Are ready tinder for the fire
That dries the fresh fish up on the rack.
Still, it’s been the healthy stock
To several fingers, to many more will be Who reach to the sun.
No longer then bestride the threshold But step in and stay For good.
We know the knife scars
Serrating down your back and front Like beak of the sword-fish
And both your ears, notched As a bondsman to this house
Are all relics of your first comings.
Then step in, step in and stay For her body is tired
Tired, her milk going sour
Where many more mouths gladden the heart.

Live on J. P. Clark. Your poem titled "The Casualty" that explains in entirety that those who lost their lives directly from the Nigerian Civil War are not the only victims of the War remains evergreen till date. Live on the jolly good fellow.

Wow. Rest in peace papa. You have done well in your lifetime.
Say hello to your good friend —Chinua Achebe.

And accept condolences from we the family of Prof. Wole Soyinka

On this day, after a little tension between Prof. W.S and Prof J.p. C, the trio put aside their differences and paid Gen. Ibrahim Babangida a visit to demand the release of the soon-to-be executed poet, soldier,
and childhood friend of the De facto Head of state —Mamman Vatsa

They all returned from the meeting in a joyful mood as they screamed their way in the car on their way out.

However, Babangida's promise to the trio was a pseudo promise as Vatsa was promptly tried and executed

Oh.. thanks for the heads up there. Used to think it was chinua Achebe because it had an igbo setting plus it was my elders sisters set that read it. So i used to steal it from her bag then to read and never really had time to check the author.

I still visited the library until the lockdown. I love literature works a lot. Was reading one before the lockdown. "Mothers love" or so. Can't remember the title now.
