The disbandment of SARS hasn't taken effect yet.
IGP make the circular go round. Let it take effect!

We can Protest Against Police Brutality is a GREAT move but demanding for complete disbandment of Tactical Anti Robbery Squad is a joke taken too far

This is just to calm the nerves of the youths, I wish it was something that directly threatened the political machinations of these vampires we called leaders, that brought out Nigerian youths in this magnitude it would have be better.

Sanwo joined not because they are really against SARS but, for the youths not pour sand for their garri.

there was this robbery on Benin expressway sometimes early last year, SARS joined us together as we stood afar looking at what was going on at the front

it had to take a convoy of soldiers who were just passing on their own to disperse them

So tell me how SARS has been of help to you in one way or the other. cause on my side they've been useless

I predicted it not long ago, now is happening the youth have realized that all these our politicians are the same and can't be trusted. We need to continue. For Lagos state government to join the protest and plead with the youth, the protest have directly or indirectly affects their expected revenue. This its the exact revolution I can die for not the one by sowore cos he have a hidden agenda. We must continue until we kick all those old monster out. Together we are the government. #youthtakeover

Congratulations Nigerians ... especially the youth of this generation, which have protested against oppression and exploitation..they have done so aggressively, yet peacefully with so much empathy, ranging from provisions of support-Food, logistics, medical support and also cleaning of protests grounds after protest...Wow... Nigeria doesn't really deserve you...but then, there you are...and have no choice but to change Nigeria for good.

You all deserve better governance!!!

Nigeria deserves them.

Nigeria is the largest independent black nation rule by blacks on earth. You under estimate your country.

Nigeria will be great again.

Being pragmatic, this is Nigeria we are in. Not to mention agreement, even if a hundred laws are passed today on Police Brutality and Restriction, it is all in vain as the reality of Nigeria is that of a lawless land where the Rule of Law only exists in theory and laws being selectively applied.

The Police is a powerful institution where accountability is nonexistent, similar to the political institutions we have in the country and sadly, this isn't only a Nigerian issue. It's the same thing with the Police in America the spurred the Black Lives Movement(BLM).

When the Police misuse their power and bend the laws to their advantage, who's going to hold them accountable? Is it the irresponsible and corrupt government we have? Are the heads of the Police who also benefit from the status quo or us the citizens, who will have to start nationwide protests or riots to temporarily curb the power of the Police by demanding justice?

We need a lasting solution...something that will work!

The only thing my little mind can think of is a complete overhaul of the Police. The only ones who can hold the Police accountable are the Police. If the superiors or 'ogas' of the Police with the supervision of the citizens and government, can ensure a professional, strict environment where any misdeeds or lawbreaking will result in immediate termination and/or court charge. It has to make clear and rigorously enforced, that the Police workforce is a professional and respected organization where the corrupt deeds of the past won't be tolerated.

But alas, it is a situation of give-and-take. It is impossible to create such a strict environment in the Police when the employees are unhappy, unappreciated, underpaid, and overworked. In as much as the corrupt deeds of the Police are abhorrible, we also have to understand that it is their only means of survival. They are people that risk their lives so we can walk outside without fear and sleep safely at night. At such, their lives and wellbeing should be better valued by us and the Government. It is because such is nonexistent in Nigeria, we have and will continue to face the issue of Police corruption and abuse of power.

We need to restrain our anger and hatred of the Police and be human beings. Love is the panacea to the problems of the world, they are also human just like us and bear the same problems and suffering we do. While calling for an end to Police Brutality, we should also clamor for a revamp of the Police. With the same energy, lets us demand the Police are provided with a better standard of living that can be compared to the best police forces in the world; high salaries, affordable and standard housing, allowances, better pension, better equipment, and standard stations, along with respect, appreciation, better training, and responsibility.

The problems of the police are also our problems. We can't just expect them to protect us wholeheartedly, without caring about them. They aren't automated robots, but human beings.

All in all, the problem of the Police and almost every other problem we have in the country, can all be traced to bad governance and our corrupt government.
