PETALING JAYA: More than 500 healthcare workers have been deployed to several districts in Sabah to help with the spike of Covid-19 cases in the state, says Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He sid 522 healthcare workers from various disciplines have been deployed to Lahad Datu, Tawau, Kota Kinabalu and Semporna.
"In the near future, we will send 11 more medical specialists consisting of three clinical specialists, eight medical specialists as well as several other medical officers," he said.
Dr Noor Hisham said the ministry will evaluate the needs of a certain area before deploying the healthcare workers.
He also urged for more healthcare workers to volunteer to help the ministry to curb the third wave spread.
In terms of personal protective equipment (PPE) stocks, Dr Noor Hisham assured that the ministry has enough stock for all hospitals, including hospitals in Sabah.
He said the ministry has enough supply of 19 different types of PPE equipment to last for two to three months.
Dr Noor Hisham added as the Sabah PPE emergency has been approved, this will increase the PPEs that are needed in the state.
"The monitoring of the PPE stocks at all hospitals is important and we are monitoring it. In terms of logistics, if there is not enough (PPEs) we will distribute it quickly," he said.
It is good to take proactive prevention and control measures. I hope that it can effectively help patients suffering from Covid-19 get out of danger as soon as possible.
