The Federal Government has denied reports that it intends to shut down internet across the country as the #EndSARS protests continue in major parts of the country for the eighth days. 

Nigerian youths are not backing down on protests for the reform of the police force and total disbandment of the Special Anti- Robbery Squad(SARS) and there are speculations that the government might shut down the internet as the agitators are passing messages across on social media handles such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and so on.

Some Nigerians have claimed the move to shut down the internet was being facilitated by the Ministry of Information headed by Alhaji Lai Mohammed and the Ministry of Communications under Isa Ali Pantami.

However, speaking with Daily Independent, Segun Adeyemi, Special Assistant to the President ( Office of the Minister of Information and Culture) denied the claim saying there was no such plan.

" There Is no such plan. We read the report in the dailies that the Federal Government is planning to shutdown the internet but it's not true. We did not issue out any statement on that. So the rumour is unfounded" he said.

The government cant try that because it will just be the light fuse that will make the present nationwide protests will go haywire.The government will be the greatest loser because of the revenue that will be lost.

The absence of leadership for the protests is both a blessing and a curse. Some serious spearheading is needed, we need to graduate from #EndSars to #EndBadGovernance, #EndEstimatedBilling, #EndJumboSalariesForNASS, #EndASUUStrikes, #EndDependenceOnOil, #EndLowMinimumWage etc. O boy the problems many
