Hoodlums Set Ablaze Ugbekun Police Station & Free Prisoners in Edo State - Video by Primenet(m): 10:14pm On Oct 19, 2020
Edo state is currently experiencing something close to anarchy. We have seen shocking pictures and video clips of hoodlums burning down a police station in the state. According to Sahara Reporters, the hoodlums set ablaze Ugbekun Police Station in Benin City, chasing away police officers on duty.

As if that wasn’t enough, earlier today, the hoodlums stormed the Benin Prison along Sapele Road to free inmates. We saw videos of freed inmate running the streets of Benin shouting and yelling. It’s very sad that these thugs have released criminals back to society and one can only imagine what they would do now that they are out.

For the record, it should be said that the thugs are in no way a part of the #EndSARS protesters. If there is one way the #EndSARS protesters have distinguished themselves, it is in the level of sophistication that has characterized the way they have organized these protests across Nigeria.

#EndSARS is not in anyway in support of vandalism or thuggery. Several times, protesters have cautioned themselves not to engage in acts of violence. Thugs causing mayhem in Lagos, Oshogbo, Abuja, Edo, and in other places are not part of the movement. This should be expressly stated.

Given the gravity of mayhem caused by thugs in Edo state today, the governor has ordered a curfew. According to Sahara Reporters, the curfew is to take effect from 4:00pm, October 19, 2020, till further notice.

The statement released reads, “This decision has become necessary because of the very disturbing incidents of vandalism and attacks on private individuals and institutions by hoodlums in the guise of #ENDSARS protesters.”
