He said, "It is unfortunate that Nigeria is under a leadership that doesn't know how to handle peaceful protests. The protests have not been violent. They have been peaceful.

Yinka Odumakin, the National Publicity Secretary of Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, has criticised the Nigerian government for the way it has been handling the #ENDSARS protests rocking the country.

Odumakin, who spoke with SaharaReporters Tuesday night, was reacting to the gruesome killing of the #EndSARS protesters by the Nigerian Army at Lekki Toll Gate, Lagos.

Also in a chat with SaharaReporters on Tuesday, a former Secretary of the National Democratic Coalition and Convener, Coalition of Democrats for Electoral Reforms, Ayo Opadokun, described the killings as "unfortunate and a national calamity."

The peaceful protesters, who were demanding police reforms, were shot at Lekki after the street cameras and light went off.

Scores of people were reportedly killed.

Odumakin described the incident as unfortunate, saying it was capable of leading to a civil war in some countries.

He said, "It is unfortunate that Nigeria is under a leadership that doesn't know how to handle peaceful protests. The protests have not been violent. They have been peaceful.

"The government doesn't need to handle this with force. One prays this will end in a proper resolution that preserves this country. In some countries, this could lead to a civil war. The government should attend to the demands of the youth.

"He (Buhari) is being addressed by some platforms as General Buhari and his government as a military junta. About five years ago, Nigerians were shouting his name, not knowing they were bringing this evil upon themselves. Now, you see what's unfolding in the next level, with the plan to wipe out Nigerians."

Which Civil war?

Nothing can lead to civil war in Nigeria because it is not even a country. it is just a combination of different nations.

If there exist Civil war, it is always been fought on ethnic basis..

The war will always start and end on ethnic lines. Ethnic A will go to war, ethnic B will say what's my business, ethnic C will team with B to fight Ethnic A.

When Ethnic B now encounters what might lead to war, ethnic A will say what's my business and team with C to fight B.

Ethnic D will say Ethnic A don't know how to carry people along the reason we fought against them...and the analysis recycles.

It can only lead to civil war in a homogeneous nations not something like Nigeria...

If you fight war in Nigeria, then it is always drawn on ethnic basis which actually shows Nigeria is not a country but the merging of different chsray.

Good one Afenifere. Elders always make their voice known. Where's Ohaneze? Do you see why they're not respected?
Let everyone see the pattern of what happened. Fulanis can't take on the combined South so they limit the attacks on one section of the south anytime they want to strike. Notice that despite all that happened in Benin, they never unleashed violence there. They specifically targeted the SW and hope the SE to keep quiet. You see how foolish politicians from the SE have remained quiet. Let southerners understand the game of these blood suckers. It should be one for all and all for one.
Freedom is near.

it will not lead to any civil war but ethnic crisis......the war of 1967 was between Hausa/fulani and the igbos. .....was any tribes involved?

how true is this below?

Francis didn’t command the soldiers nor was he there when shots were fired. Francis’ a Brigadier General of the Lagos Garrison was at home when this occurred and he was shocked when people started calling him that soldiers were at the Toll gate shooting. He rushed to the scene and arrived about 39 mins after.
He identified himself and moved to pull back the soldiers. It was then he discovered that the soldiers were from there 65 Battalion Bonny camp led by their commanding officer one *Lt Col S. O. Bello*.
As I write the soldiers and their c/o Lt Col Bello are still writing reports as they authorities want to know who authorized the military to go to the scene. Pls note that a General does a not lead a small battalion so there’s no way Francis a General would be commanding or leading a motley crowd of soldiers.
His only mistake was that when he got to the scene he was screaming his name to alert the soldiers about his presence and people at the scene picked that up and ran with it
*As received*
