If events of the next few days are not handled carefully and cautiously, the APC government will through the back door achieve their objectives of changing the regime in rivers state and planting a military administration via state of emergency

Now your story has changed. So it is no longer that IPOB was going about attacking Oyigbo, it is now that Kanu told IPOB to burn the Police station.

The question is why Oyigbo? Why would Kanu order IPOB to be killing Police men Oyigbo? Why not Enugu? Why not Aba? Why not Abakiliki? Why Oyigbo in particular? What is it that is happening there that is exceptional?

It's on YouTube/ audio Whatsapp widely circulated
Ask your people for the link they will send it to you

The problem with people like you, you abuse the usage of English words.

Now crawl back to your cave and find out the definition of massacre.

Should I bother myself engaging IPOB whom Nnamdi has looted their senses of reasoning?

[[s]quote author=gidgiddy post=95328897]For the past few years, Oyigbo, a satellite town of Portharcourt, Rivers State, has been in the News for violence. Some say the violence is caused by clashes between residents and the Northern community in the area, others say it is caused by clashes between the security forces and indigenes. There is even talk that IPOB is attacking the community, which does not seem realistic as IPOB is not known for attacking communities.

Oyigbo's actual name is actually "Obigbo", the indigenes are ethnic Igbos. The area used to be in the old Aba province. In 1967 when General Gowon created Rivers states, Obigbo was one of the areas Gowon carved into the new Rivers State. After the war ended in 1970, the military government renamed Obigbo to 'Oyigbo'

So can a resident or indigene of Oyigbo enlighten us all on what is causing the violence in that Town?

Thanks[/quote][/s]

Trash! The original owner of that land are the ogoni people. When the ibo traders came in for trading they were welcome by ancient ogoni people and an area was calved out for them. The original name is oyii igbo which means "you Will be our friends" while the short form is oyigbo due to pronunciation difficulties. Before long this traders from the east started dragging land and Title with the original owners of the land (ogoni people). They changed the original name to obigbo which was later revert to the original oyigbo.

Justice Mamman Nasir boundary adjustment commission, carved out a lot of igbo communities, some with reasonable oil deposits,(Egbema axis) and practically "dashed" these communities to the Diette-spiffs of the then Rivers State. It was part of a plan to hem in the interior Igbo communities while hacking off the oil communities at the periphery. Also as a juicy compensation for the minorities who fought with the federal forces..It might interest you to know that one Obasanjo, was the Head of State then. He is today playing the good man. .

These communities are responsible for a large chunk of the oil funds accruing to Rivers State from onshore wells, but this seldom reflects in these communities.. During the Jonathan's regime, Amaechi went to war with Jonathan over this after Jonathan reverted some oil wells in these communities back to Imo.., part of the reasons the cabals trusted Amaechi so well to enroll him into APC at the initial stages. Folks in these communities have been severely marginalised! Things haven't changed under Amaechi and Wike, the later being so uncouth and vindictive. Remember him calling the state APC chairman "that Igbo boy"?

Their roads and other infastructure are bad, their leaders are always insulted. In recent years, they have become more inclined to ipob activities because of the internal marginalisation going on..Kanu had some of his biggest rallies in these areas those days... The relationship between them and the Hausa fulani settlement in their communities hasn't been rosy either..

some years ago,a house member from their even moved a motion in the Rivers State HOA that they should be allowed to join Abia state.
and for that mofo who is saying that Ogoni people own obigbo and that the original name is oyii. igbo, what is the meaning of OYII in Ogoni language?

obigbo was forced into rivers state by the boundary adjustment commission headed by a northern judge in 1976.........prior to that it was in East central state, Get your fact right. The old rivers state boundary actually started where the old port harcourt toll gate.

I believe Obigbo people are NDOKI Igbos. They are the real owners of UBANI (the richness of land) otherwise known as Bonny
