A king without a “ Staff Of Office “, is that one a king?

It is no longer news that Oba Of Lagos, HRM, Rilwan Akinolu lost his “ Opa Ase “, “Staff Of Office” to hoodlums who invaded his palace some days ago.

Oba Akinolu‘s palace was actually part of the site of destruction hoodlums who were looting in the name of
#EndSARS protest targeted.

A video of the hoodlums taking away the staff of office with real sense of fulfillment emerged online and it is confirmed that Oba Of Lagos no longer has a “Staff Of Office”.

What Does It Mean For The King To Lose His Staff Of Office?

The “ Opa Ase ” in literally means, “ Staff Of Authority “. Without it, the king has no authority over anything in the kingdom.

In Yoruba Land, a king without a “Staff Of Office” can be likened to a toothless bull dog.

The funny thing is, he can only be addressed as King when he has the Staff Of Authority, without it, his title is
Mr or maybe Chief if he has money.
Without the Staff Of Office, things will not go well in the Palace as well as in the town at large.

In fact, some elders said if it was the olden days before politics eat deep into traditional practice, the King will be dethroned in 7days.

What The Royal Family Are Doing To Get The Staff Of Office Back
