BREAKING: No State Hoarded Palliatives ― Governors by Le124(m): 9:12am On Oct 26, 2020
By Henry Umoru, Abuja

The thirty-six State Governors under the aegis of the Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF have denied hoarding Palliatives that are designed for the people as cushion following the outbreak of the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. The governors who noted that no State has been involved in or has hoarded any palliatives, described as erroneous, the impression in the public domain that the palliatives were hoarded following instructions by the state governors, adding that they stand for justice, improved governance and a progressive Nigeria. In a statement on Monday, the Head of Media and Public Affairs of NGF, Abdulrazaque Barkindo described such stories as not just inaccurate, but entirely erroneous and untrue and also mischievous, to say the least. The Governors who called on members of the public to check their facts stressed that they all recognize the need for improved governance

The Governors who noted that as Nigerians, we must be careful not to damage ourselves by pushing the wrong narrative, said that they are doing their very best under the circumstances to ameliorate the needs of the teeming population. The statement read: The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) have since the EndSARS demonstrations started, held several meetings to address the underlying concerns and members have aligned themselves with the call for justice leading to the setting up of judicial panels in the States of the Federation against Police brutality. The NGF regrets the loss of lives and property occasioned by the violent protests that erupted and calls for calm. “A lot of the information circulating the social media needs to be fact-checked. The NGF pleads with members of the public to desist from spreading rumours which further creates panic and stampede. “For example, some of the properties stolen and vandalized, include palliatives set aside for vulnerable members of society. “The NGF reemphasizes and corrects the impression that palliatives found in warehouses that were broken into in Lagos and some other states were kept in storage for members of the society especially our vulnerable citizens.

“The erroneous impression in the public domain that these palliatives were hoarded is not just inaccurate, entirely erroneous and untrue but also mischievous, to say the least. “For the avoidance of doubt, some of the palliatives had the CACOVID stamp embossed on them, meaning that their source is unambiguous. “As we know, CACOVID operations are mainly domiciled in Lagos, being the headquarters of most of the public-spirited organisations, corporate bodies and individuals that came together to form the Coalition Against COVID-19; CACOVID. “Until mid-October, when the NGF had its last meeting, up to ten States had not participated in the flag-off ceremonies for the distribution of palliatives in their States. This was because the items meant for distribution in these states had not been completely received from CACOVID. “Some other states that still had palliatives in their warehouses chose to keep a strategic reserve ahead of a projected second wave of COVID-19. “Furthermore, as of a couple of weeks ago, some States were still receiving palliatives from the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development. “The NGF wishes to state categorically that no State has been involved in or has hoarded any palliatives. “The NGF also assures all contributors to the palliatives that prior to the looting of these warehouses, States had kept full accounts of all the items received and distributed. “NGF calls on members of the public to check their facts. While we all recognize the need for improved governance, we should be careful not to damage ourselves by pushing the wrong narrative. “The State Governors are doing their very best under the circumstances to ameliorate the needs of the teeming population. “The Nigeria Governors’ Forum stands for justice, improved governance and a progressive Nigeria.”

In as much as I am against the ongoing looting and destructions of public and private properties, the governors should stop deceiving themselves and agree they have failed Nigerians.. The level of corruption and moral decadence in Nigeria stink so badly that the malodorous waves got to Trump in faraway US...

Everybody is just darn corrupt in Nigeria, from the politicians down to the poor.. We are all criminals, I have to bluntly admit.. How many principled and incorruptible people are in Nigeria? Maybe 1, maybe 2.. Apart from President Mohammadu Buhari, who else?

If Nigeria was Sodom or Gomorrah, only President Mohammadu Buhari, and maybe 5 other Nigerians, would be saved, and everything else destroyed! Too bad it has gotten to this disastrous level!

May God help Nigeria.

Just an apology from governor's forum with a little sensible excuse would probably placate Nigerians , but so far more than 7 states saw and looted palliatives that were delivered since late april / early MAY and you have the guts to say you didn't hoard ??

lie that you projected economy might collapse by december so you keep it till december / new year , give us reasonable lies but this one is just nonsense

Who are the vulnerable members they were keeping that much food for? How can you stash away so much food meant to feed millions of poor citizens and you sleep comfortably at night?

These people really take us for fools. How about governor Zulum that shared same palliative foodstuffs months ago? Did he get his own separately? All the people responsible for this hoarding deserve to be named and publicly shamed
Re: BREAKING: No State Hoarded Palliatives ― Governors by aieromon(m): 11:54am On Oct 26, 2020
Strategic reserve in anticipation of a second wave? What was distributed during the first wave? Why are we talking about covid19 palliatives in October?

This is a very disappointing response from the NGF.
Re: BREAKING: No State Hoarded Palliatives ― Governors by Charmingrascal(m): 11:57am On Oct 26, 2020
God will punish you all.

Some of the palliatives taken by their rightful owners in Plateau State have even spoilt.
The short Governor whose name is "Lalong" locked us inside on a Monday morning when people are suppose to go about their businesses because people who own palliatives took their things by force when the government have decided to be unfortunate.

Lalong is among the top Three clueless Governors in Nigeria at the moment.

Short man bearing La'long'

One thing I observed is that hunger knows no tribe or religion because the same Bukuru area in Jos where those palliatives were discovered on Saturday was boiling on Friday due to religious crisis but the next day which was Saturday the palliatives were discovered and the people that have been fighting themselves came together to claim their their rightfully owned foods stolen by the government.
They were helping one another in sharing the food and it was so emotional seeing such.

God punish every Governor who make life difficult for the masses.
They shall have plenty and still starve to death.

Oloriburuku people.

And to y'all that used that as an advantage to loot other people's private business may whatever you have stolen and u refused to return choke u to death.

Oleeeee!
