Following President Mohammadu Buhari’s dispatched and directive to ministers and top government’s functionaries in his government to relocate back to their respective home states to begin engagement with their respective constituents un-behalf of government, with the purposed of listening to their grievances in the aftermath of the #ENDSARS protest that rocked major cities and States of the Federation, the Honourable Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio in compliance to the directive of the President commenced meetings with various stakeholders in Akwa Ibom State during the weekend. The former Governor and Minority leader of the Red Chamber, who arrived his home state of Akwa Ibom State amidst thunderous welcome on Saturday, held several sessions with the people of the State, one of such being his meeting on Sunday, October 25, 2020 with stakeholders from Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District at the Essiene Udim Local Government Council Hall with elders, youths, women and other stakeholders.

The Minister condemned violence and wanton destructions of properties that have been unleashed on the State by hoodlums and called on the youths to maintain peace and not take the laws into their hands. The Minister who in penultimate to his meeting with the people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district, had, in company of the Special Assistant to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Ita Enang and other top party chieftains inspected and accessed the damage done by hoodlums to the State’s APC Secretariat along Ikot Ekpene Road in Uyo and others, pleaded with the people to take advantage of the magnanimity of President Mohammadu Buhari, who has demonstrated that he is a listening and caring father who is ready to meet and implement the ideals and demands of genuine protesters, also advised the people to eschew violence and avoid wanton destruction of facilities that are supposed to ameliorate facility deficit in the state.
