Cross Riverians Berate Ita-Giwa Over Kneeling Video

Cross River born Deputy Sheriff in Essex County, New Jersey of the United States, Francis Asuquo and Chef Victor have berated Senator Florence Ita-Giwa over her position on the historic looting of properties in Calabar, the Cross River State capital last weekend.

The looting had began from the Calabar South council secretariat and a warehouse holding COVID-19 palliatives near Governor Ben Ayade’s private residence on Friday and rapidly grew into a massive looting of publi and privately owned properties.

And, on Sunday morning, a video shared by aides of Mr. Ayade showed Mrs. Ita-Giwa kneeling at the popular Watt Market roundabout pleading for the looting and destruction of properties to stop.

A text accompanying the footage of the former lawmaker claimed the action took place at midnight between Saturday and Sunday.

“Senator Princess (Dame) Ita Giwa had taken to her knees at about 12:00am today at the Calabar most populous and traditionally revered roundabout, ‘Itiad Udi Abasi Orok’, Watt market, Calabar to plead with the aggrieved youths to desist from further destruction of properties within the State which is mostly under the Efik Kingdom,” read the text shared to CrossRiverWatch newsroom by Ekeng Inyang, an aide to Governor Ayade on strategic communications on Sunday morning.
But, Chef Victor whose mother is Efik took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the video. He felt Mrs. Ita-Giwa had no moral justification to appeal for calm given his experience after working for her.
