GOVERNORSHIP candidate of the Accord Party (AP) in Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, has alleged an assassination plot on his life.

The former governor fingered some powerful individuals and groups in the state as the brains behind the plot.

According to Ladoja’s media aide, Alhaji Lanre Latinwo, the plan to kill the former governor “was the only way to crumble the Accord Party in the state and stop the threat of Accord to the existing big parties in the state.

“The plan was put into package in a very popular printing press premises in Ibadan owned by a known businessman”.

He, therefore, called on the Inspector-General of Police and the Director-General of State Security Service (SSS) “to probe this allegation and ensure that the threat to the life of Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja is investigated and appropriate action taken”.

The Police Commissioner, Mr. Baba Adisa Bolanta, told the Nigerian Compass that he had not received any such report from Ladoja or anybody else.

“I have not heard of such allegation. Nobody has made such report and so, I don’t know anything about it,” the police boss said.

Reacting to the allegation on behalf of the state government, however, the Special Adviser to Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala on Public Communications, Prince Dotun Oyelade, said

“Former Governor Ladoja has alleged threat to his life. Haba! If a man could not assist his people with a war chest of N150 billion in three years, of what benefit will his death be? He will be alive, Insha Allah, to witness further transformation in the state till 2015. Governor Akala, of course, wishes the Senator a long live.”
