Kano government has threatened private schools to reduce their third term school fees or the term will be cancelled. This is presently raising a lot of views on social media.

The Kano State Commissioner for Education, Muhammad Kiru, on Thursday, threatened to cancel the third term in the state if proprietors of private schools fail to reduce their school fees by at least 25 per cent before November 1, 2020

Lagos State recently announced resumption of all schools next week in the face of security challenges when policemen are not working and crime rate is up. One wonders what necessitated that decision if not pressures from the private schools and the need for them to make money. The police, lastma, FRSC and others do not find it safe to return to roads but our Lagos state education ministry says its okay for kids to be on the road, some commuting alone, some in school buses.

For a typical private school, it is all about the money. Private schools fees keep going up even after the lockdown and now another 2 weeks of shutdown. The private school sees the parents as their ticket to the bank and that shows in most of their actions.

Here is a deep analysis of public versus private school dichotomy. A wife wants an expensive private school for their daughter even though the husband who is paying the hundreds of thousands prefer a good public school.

Why are the public schools not upgrading in standard so parents can have a choice? I believe this will be the way to reduce the monotony of the private schools and curb the cancer they have become in extortion of parents.
