Cinzo, when your mechanic said he "serviced the injector", what exactly did he do? Bearing in mind, the Toyota Camry 3,0L V6 is multi-point fuel injected, with 6 individual injectors?

Please check with him, and post his response here.
Re: Help Me Out by cinzo: 12:34pm On Mar 15, 2011
He said he serviced the nozzles. Soaked them in fuel and cleaned them.

I want to know if bad plugs could cause the problems too?

Help!!!
Re: Help Me Out by Nobody: 3:51pm On Mar 15, 2011
Servicing fuel injectors by soaking them in petrol is a fallacy. It does absolutely nothing. What does your mechanic think flows through them? The petrol they were soaked in, is no cleaner than what runs through them. The only way to service petrol injectors is to have them cleaned ultrasonically. This involves sending them away, where the spray pattern will be checked, flow rates checked and balanced. They'll also be fitted with new seals and pintle caps where applicable.

Nigerian mechanics are just ripping you guys off. I suspect your mechanic damaged one or more of the O-rings, and / or cracked one or more pintle caps whilst he removed and re-installed them. This will cause them to leak - they'll appear okay at high rpm, but jerky at low engine speeds under load, as the leaking will attempt to flood the engine, supplying the combustion chambers with more fuel than they can cope with.

I presume your car is an automatic, which makes the jerkiness at low speeds even worse.

I don't know if you have decent injector refurbishers in Nigeria. Over here, we send them off to fuel injection specialists, and after they're serviced, they're sent back the following day. Often, these specialists offer an exchange programme, to save on time. If you don't have any such specialists that you can send yours to, I would be inclined to get a good used set, from a car that can still have the engine run. This is very important, as you will at least have an idea how the donor engine ran with the new set.

Another option is to try a different mechanic, see what he says, and what he can do to solve your car's running problems. Best of luck.
Re: Help Me Out by Nobody: 5:39pm On Mar 15, 2011
Another thing to try - I would remove all the spark plugs, and see what the tips look like. Rough running from leaking injectors will certainly make the car thirstier, and the tips of the spark plugs may be black from over-fuelling. This would be my first port of call.

Has fuel consumption increased? Is there a smell of unburnt petrol in the car, possibly stronger with the aircon switched on?

@@@@@

well well aha

rather than wasting ur money why not buy tokubo injector with guarante just in case , .
Re: Help Me Out by verbena: 4:01pm On Mar 16, 2011
did your mechanic change the plugs ? one thing i can guarantee is if you took it to a good mechanic to service that wouldnt recycle perishable car parts your car would be fine. As washing nozzles and plugs in petrol wasnt a white mans idea of a service.
Re: Help Me Out by cinzo: 12:27pm On Mar 17, 2011
I did not even ask him to service the injector! I only asked him to service the car and after doing that he decided to service the injector too.
Re: Help Me Out by Nobody: 5:32pm On Mar 17, 2011
^^^ That's Nigerian mechanics for you.
Re: Help Me Out by mishooo(m): 7:25pm On Mar 17, 2011
Hi Siena, am also having almost same problem. In my case, the idling is not smooth unless i rev for some time and the car takes like the fourth time to start fully. i.e. it starts and stops within 1/2 a second.
Its a VW New Beetle and it runs great on gas, i just changed the MAF sensor, Engine Temp Coolant Sensor, plugs on it 2 days ago. My Mechanic said the engine has lost pressure (whatever that means) and he needs to ring the engine. it runs great at high RPM though. I went to some forums and was told i should use an injector cleaner. So what exactly do you think i should do?
Re: Help Me Out by Nobody: 7:39pm On Mar 17, 2011
^^^ Given the age of your car, I would say it's unlikely your engine needs rings at this stage. I think your mechanic is trying to sting your wallet, and make it limp.

Worn rings would give obvious signs - sluggish performance, high oil consumption. Your mechanic is trying to tell you, your cylinder compressions are below their limits. Please, tell him to give you all the readings, from each cylinder. These readings must be from a cold engine.

In the meantime, I would get the ECU scanned for fault codes. Most common problem is a partially dead crankshaft sensor. OBD code-readers will display this as "engine speed sender", or "engine RPM sender".

Work on what I've posted, and we'll take things from there. I would also like to know which engine your Volkswagen New Beetle is fitted with.
Re: Help Me Out by mishooo(m): 7:43pm On Mar 17, 2011
My engine is 2.0L (manual Tranny). I have read the code and that was how i discovered the Engine coolant Sensor and MAF sensor that i changed were bad. Albeit, I'll scan the car again this night to see if it has thrown new error codes. I'll give you the feed back here tomorrow. Thanks man.
Re: Help Me Out by Nobody: 7:52pm On Mar 17, 2011
^^^ No worries. So, your engine's a 2,0L 8V crossflow.

The items you replaced - did you buy them yourself, or did your mechanic? Who fitted these? Before you replaced these items, what did the car drive like? Was it the same issue you have now? If not, is it any better, or worse?
Re: Help Me Out by mishooo(m): 8:15pm On Mar 17, 2011
it wasnt the same issues and its much better right now. no more jerking and the engine is not "dying" on me anymore. I called the Itire (VW spare parts market) seller to deliver it to my mechanic. He then fitted then and cleared the codes. The engine light was off for just a day. now its back. Even when the check light was off, the car still took the 3rd starting of ignition to respond fully.
Re: Help Me Out by mishooo(m): 9:09am On Mar 18, 2011
I checked the error code from my VAG and it says "Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected". It also says " Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected", " Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected" .

This has happened over several times in recent past. and each time, we had to buy new set of plugs.

My question is how do i know if i REALLY need to ring my engine or just to check my engine intake vacuum (cos i also hear sounds of air escaping when am on the move).
Re: Help Me Out by Nobody: 9:35am On Mar 18, 2011
From your last post, sounds like an ignition coil-pack issue. Is your car from the US? If so, the engine will be coded "ABA". Coil-pack issues are pretty common. If it's the version I'm thinking of, the coil-pack will be situated at the lower front right of the cylinder block, below the cylinder block.

Get that replaced, and all should be well.
Re: Help Me Out by mishooo(m): 10:37am On Mar 18, 2011
My car is from the US. I'll have the coil pack checked.
Re: Help Me Out by Nobody: 12:02pm On Mar 18, 2011
^^^ No worries, Mishooo. Keep us posted on progress.

Hi siena, my car is witnessing exactly what u are trashing out here. its a honda accord 1990, it jerks at low speed and at high sleep, it struggles to transmit smoothly.i also perceived fuel stringly if the a/c is on and it also smokes shortly after start up. Please am counting on you for advise, i've been reading all your advise on the side for a long time now and u've been tremendiously helpful.
