There has been no reports of armed robberies or increase in violent crime since the absence of police officers on our highways at least in Imo State. Is this a general trend?

Commercial and private drivers plying the South Eastern highways have all been very happy about the occurrence citing increase in profits and extortion-free drives. Perhaps it's high time for the populace to reevaluate the functions and structure of the police force and also find more target driven means of community policing to combat the recalcitrant waves of crime holding urban populations hostage.

Even there have been allegations that it is the corrupt elements of the police force who sponsor most of the violent crimes as armed robbers are repeatedly apprehended with police issue assault rifles, pistols and pump actions.

As the continued absence of the police lingers and might stretch on till next year, the question remains; what's does the future hold for Nigeria's policing institutions??
