OODUA YOUTH COALITION FAULTS CONTINUED CASES OF KIDNAPPING ACROSS THE SOUTHWEST, CALLS FOR AN END TO THE MENACE

Top of the responsibilities of a government to its citizens is to create a safe and peaceful environment for them to embark on their day-to-day activities without fear. The South western part of Nigeria was known for peace until recently that the rate of criminal activities has been on the increase. There are reported cases of kidnapping, stealing and terror unleashed on farmers across the southwest. We, the leadership of the Oodua Youth Coalition, finds it important to call the attention of the southwest governors to cases of kidnapping in Ondo, Osun and Ekiti, thuggery in Oyo and Ogun, terror in lagos. These heinous activities have continued to put fear in the minds of our people.

We commend the Governors for the unity of purpose exhibited in the establishment of the southwest regional security network codenamed "Amotekun". It is a courageous step towards curbing the challenges of security in the region. While we commend this move, we implore the Governors in their respective states to domesticate the initiative and give the institutional and financial support for them to deliver on the mandate given to them.

We also find it imperative to appeal to officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to resume their normal duties as the #Endsars protest wasn't a struggle to crucify the police but to demand a system that works for all, police inclusive. We also like to remind men of the NPF of the oath of dedication and commitment signed when taking the job. It's sacrosanct we all stay on course as we demand for a country that works.

This statement was signed by Oluyi Akintade Tayo the national president and released by OluwaGbenga Ajongbolo shortly after there meeting held in Ibadan last weekend.
