L’oreal Debuts A Line Of “virtual Makeup” Products by TechSightNow: 4:00pm On Nov 16, 2020
The coronavirus pandemic has normalized remote work and hangouts across the World, millions of people around the world have realized that a lot can be achieved with little or no physical presence needed. In October this year three major tech companies, Dropbox, Twitter and Square announced that they would be letting employees work remotely forever and many companies have followed suit by going either full time or part time remote. This is not only because of the dangers of the virus but also because of the flexibility, increased productivity and save of cost. A report by BBC showed that remote work has increased the productivity of workers by 13% and this shows that remote work whether full time or part time is here to stay especially in the Tech Eco-system.

The transition into remote working comes with a lot of exchanged face-to-face virtual meetups through any of the video conferencing applications like Zoom, Teams etc and unlike with physical meetings where one would have to “dress up” to work, many people do not put in effort into their looks.
It is with this in mind that the cosmetic giant, L’Oreal launched “Signature Faces” to provide virtual cosmetic enhancement and provide a solution which is similar to real time camera filtering used by influencers and models for selfie and video content.
The Line “Signature Faces” comes with 3 themes and 10 products; the “Volumizing Capsules”, “Plump shot” and “Fire Match” themes and comprises of a digital beauty routine and a detailed tutorial on how to use the virtual make up line.
The new software which is compatible with Snapchat, Instagram, Google Duo and video conferencing platforms like Skype, zoom, Google Hangouts etc. can be used to add 10 products across the three themed “Looks” to “break the boundaries of classical makeup [and]sign your digital look with confidence and audacity” the company says
This debut by L’Oreal is similar to the acquisition of AI Modiface two years back that led to a Facebook partnership which allowed users to try on make-up virtually, including products sold by Maybelline, NYX, Girgio Armani, Yves Saint, Urban Decay and Laurent.
