[b][/b]Genesis 3:21-Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins,and clothed them.
In our opening verse,we read how God distinguished Himself as the first fashion designer in making a tunic for our first parents to cover their nudity.This act of God is preceded by the willful disobedience of God's explicit instructions by the first couple,Adam and Eve,and the attendent consequences,which ultimately affects everyone born of a woman.
In retrospect,God had specifically barred the first couple from taking of the fruits of the tree of the knowledge of God and evil,while leaving the rest of the trees that inhabit the garden of eden.Among these unbarred trees stood a most conspicuous tree,the tree of Life.This tree is a symbolic representation of the coming Christ,who had not yet come at that time.In the garden,God gave them free will to make their choices,but also laid bare the attendent benefits/consequences that were bound to attend those choices.He made it clear to them that should they eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,they would die.In His infinite wisdom,He made the tree of Life easily accessible to them because He wanted to share His life with them.A life of joy,peace,love,gentleness and all the others vividly captured in Galatians 5:22-23.But alas!,the devil came,with his weapons of deceit and rebellion,and took away their focus from the tree of Life and anchored it on the forbidden tree.It is essentially expedient to note that this tree of knowledge of good and evil represents law or the doctrine of self effort.More simplistically,the act of eating from this tree connotes trying to attain to God's holy standard by self-effort,which is an impossibility.In fact,vs 3 of Gen.3 was unambigous and unequivocal about the result that follows such act:Death.This death is the severing of the spiritual link between God and man.In reality,man fell and nature began to work against him as against when it worked for him before the his(man) fall.
To remedy this situation,God devised a plan,a methodology to reconcile man back unto Himself.He left His glory behind in heaven and took on human form,assuming the form of a servant (Philippians 2:7-.All for what?To reconcile us back to Himself through the mystery of the Cross.No wonder,he said,'I have come that ye may have life and have it more abundantly.He came to restore to us the life we lost in the garden of Eden.To enjoy,all you need to do is to believe.John 3:16b says'For whosoever believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.Isaiah said,'Who has believed our report and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?When you believe this report of Christ and His finished work,the Holy spirit,which is the arm of the Lord,will go to work in your heart and form the image of Christ in you.Believe!That's God requirement for enjoying His Very Life.Shalom!
