NN24, is a Nigerian news channel hosted by DSTV a South African media concern, and is affiliated with CNN, plus has a news content deal with Reuters (see-http://www.nn24.tv/about_us.php). Would the American public and media support a Presidential debate held by a media organisation hosted and under the control of foreign powers?

BON (Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria-http://www.broadcastnigeria.org/) is a statutory corporation comprising of WHOLLY owned public and private NIGERIAN broadcasters that have a long history of holding Nigerian Presidential debates and the President has acquiesced to debate his opponents at their televised debate on March 29th, 2011.

Are we saying that Nigeria at 50 years plus and with a population of over 150 million people should have The Most Vital Debate of the next four years held under the banner of a concern under the control of a foreign power and whose broadcast can only be accessed as a Pay Per View service or online which are both media available only to the elite?

Then we do this and expect the world not to view us as a Banana Republic so ready to give up control over vital issues crucial to national destiny.

Any sitting President who agrees to attend such a debate is not worth the respect of his people who voted him into office not just as President but as head of state. A Head of State like the Queen of England is a ceremonial representation of a people and their culture not the culture of a foreign power except such a President is a puppet or the nation is independent.

For those who may not know, NN24 is completely and totally hosted by DSTV. DSTV's content is under the control of the South African Broadcasting Commission (SABC). Having our Presidential debate under the NN24 banner means subjecting Nigeria to the control of a foreign power. There MUST be a debate, but such a debate must be hosted and controlled by stations that are subject to no other control than a statutory Nigerian body.

While we are at it we may also host foreign powers at our military infrastructure and institutions.

Now sticking to only facts, and logic (no insults or immaturity) who can fault this logic?

OK!

GEJ made the right choice then.

America and the rest of the west would never allow any sort of outside influence, no matter how benign, in their presidential election

Good call by GEJ.

The logic is water tight!! Very brilliant analysis!!

BTW is President Goodluck's facebook page on a Nigerian website?

His official car nko, Nigerian made technology? What about the Presidential jet?

I heard Julius Berger built half of Abuja, time to burn the city! Julius Berger is associated with Germany.

NTA uses Foreign made Broadcasting equipments, let's stop watching NTA and stick to town criers.

^^^

Well, CNN employs foreigners, use Chinese and German made instruments

The issue here is about policy and outside influence on the Nigerian system that are not of benefit to and of paramount whatever to Nigerians.

Irrespective, the questions wont be fair, Shekarau was giving more time than others and for all we know, it was a grand design by the power brokers behind NN24 to in a way influence our system and bring to power people more subservient to their interest. May be GEJ and his people saw though their ruse and chose, rightly, to ignore the debate.

Extremely good call by Gej especially when u consider the fact that the other leading contestants only succeeded in displaying their folly to the same elites they intended to impress. On the streets, i'm yet to hear anyone that thinks the Dbanj interview was anything other than superb Even though the BB online propaganda agents would have us believe otherwise.

@Fsranger, NN24 is working with Americans to bring in Buhari/Ribadu/Shekarau so they can control them since they have no control over the current PDP government.

PDP puts Nigerians first always.

Foreign companies are not able to place spies in our PDP controlled Federal Ministries and GEJ will not join to support their UN resolutions. . . BTW PDP has passed the PIB law foreigners hate so much, NOT.

Buhari = Foreign = bad

Jonathan = Local = good

The only issue here worth its salt is the debate not being freely available to all Nigerians, ie must be accessed as pay per view.

The others. . .

. . .are unmitigated trash.
